constituent authority paid the amount of its assessment after the times prescribed by section 129 (1) of the Act:

Now, therefore, pursuant to section 719 of the Act, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.

ORDER

  1. Title and commencement—(1) This order may be cited as the Thames Valley United Council (Validation of Assessments) Order 1983.

(2) This order shall come into force on the day after the date of its publication in the Gazette.

  1. Validation of written notice of proposed contributions—The action of the Council, in sending, on the 28th day of October 1982, to each constituent authority of the Council, a written notice, pursuant to section 126 (1) of the Act, specifying the proposed contributions for the financial year commencing on the 1st day of March 1982 to be payable by the constituent authorities, together with a copy of the estimates for that financial year prepared under section 121 of the Act, is hereby validated, notwithstanding that each such written notice and each such copy was given after the time required by section 126 (1) of the Act.

  2. Validation of meeting—The action of the Council in assessing, at a meeting held by the Council on the 19th day of November 1982, the contributions payable by the constituent authorities of the Council under section 123 of the Act for the financial year commencing on the 1st day of March 1982, is hereby validated, notwithstanding that the meeting was held after the time required by section 126 (2) of the Act.

  3. Validation of written notice of assessment—The action of the Council in giving to each constituent authority of the Council a written notice, pursuant to section 126 (3) of the Act, specifying the amount for which the constituent authority had been assessed, at the meeting held on the 19th day of November 1982, for the financial year commencing on the 1st day of March 1982, is hereby validated, notwithstanding that that notice did not show—

(a) A copy of the estimates of the expenditure of the Council for that financial year; and

(b) A statement showing the receipts and payments of the Council for the preceding financial year.

  1. Validation of payment of assessments—The action of the Council in treating the amounts of the assessments for the financial year commencing on the 1st day of March 1982 as having been paid in time, notwithstanding that they were paid by each constituent authority after the times required by section 129 (1) of the Act, is hereby validated.

Appointment of Member to the Joint Council for Local Authorities Services

PURSUANT to sections 4 and 5 of the Joint Council for Local Authorities Services Act 1977, the Minister of Local Government hereby appoints the following person to be a member of the Joint Council for Local Authorities Services with a term of office to commence on 1 October 1983 and to expire on 30 September 1986;

Thomas Raymond Woollams, of Tikitere,

on the nomination of the New Zealand Catchment Authorities Association as specified in section 4 (2) (c) of the Act.
