  1. COOK STRAIT RAIL FERRIES PASSENGER SERVICES

9.1 Tickets
Tickets may be purchased for passenger travel on the Cook Strait rail ferry service between Wellington and Picton from a Corporation booking office or from an authorised booking agency. Bookings may be made in any calendar month for travel during the subsequent six calendar months.

9.2 Fares
Tickets which entitle the holders to travel on specific sailings of the Cook Strait rail ferry service shall be issued at the following fares:

9.2.1 Ordinary single fares:

9.2.2 Day excursion fares: Day excursion tickets, available for return travel on the Cook Strait rail ferries between Wellington and Picton on the day of issue only, shall be issued at the following fares only at the Corporation’s Wellington and Picton wharf terminal booking offices.

9.2.3 Welfare beneficiaries and blind persons: Ordinary single and day excursion Cook Strait rail ferry tickets shall be issued at the following concession fares, and subject to the same terms and conditions as for tickets issued at full fare, to welfare beneficiaries, blind persons and attendants who are normally entitled to travel at half fare as provided in clause 2.10.

9.3 “Super Six” travel vouchers

9.3.1 Concession: Five Cook Strait rail ferry passenger receipt ticket copies may be exchanged for a “Super Six” travel voucher to the value of 20 percent of the total fares paid.

9.3.2 Conditions: The five journeys must have been made within a three month qualifying period by the same person. The tickets must have been purchased from a Corporation booking office or an authorised booking agency at ordinary fares. The travel voucher must be used in one transaction: there shall be no cash refunds.

9.3.3 Applications: Applications for “Super Six” travel vouchers should be made to the Corporation’s Passenger Manager.

  1. PASSENGERS’ BAGGAGE

10.1 Carriage of Goods Act 1979
Passengers’ baggage is carried in accordance with the provisions of the Carriage of Goods Act 1979.

10.2 Free allowance
Passengers will be granted free conveyance, subject to the provisions of clause 11, relating to checked baggage, of their bona fide personal baggage as follows:
Per adult paying passenger—two items of baggage.
Per child travelling at half fare—one item of baggage.
Families travelling on family tickets (clause 5.4)—maximum of five items of baggage.
Invalids wheelchairs (motor or hand propelled) accompanying passengers.
Prams and pushchairs accompanying passengers.
