  1. AGRICULTURAL LIME

57.1 Minimum wagon load

New Zealand lime certified for use in dressing land of bona fide farms, orchards, nurseries, or market gardens and consigned direct to farmers, orchardists, nurserymen, or market gardeners in the following minimum loads shall be charged the rates prescribed in clause 57.2 subject to minimum wagon loads as follows:

57.3 Owner’s risk

The foregoing rates are at “limited carrier’s risk” and will be reduced by two percent where consignors require that the consignment be carried at “owner’s risk”.

57.4 Minimum Charges

Any less quantity than the minimum wagon load shall be charged at such minimum, or on the actual weight at the class E rate plus 50 percent, whichever is cheaper.

57.5 Handling

All loading and unloading shall be performed by the owners.

  1. GOODS LOADED IN CONTAINERS

58.1 Bulk powder and liquids

Goods shall be charged a rate of 62 cents per tonne, in addition to the classified rates applicable to the commodity, based on the net weight of the contents, when carried in the following containers owned by the Corporation:

Bulk flour
Bulk powder (e.g. lime flour, pozzalan, salt cake, etc)
Bulk liquids (including bulk tallow, tall oil, molasses etc)

58.2 Exceptions

Clause 58.1 is not applicable to goods carried in the Corporation’s Gsw, Gsx and insulated containers, or petroleum products carried in Corporation owned tank wagons. For bulk cement conveyed in Corporation owned tank wagons—see clause 53.4.1.

58.3 Lightweight metal containers

Goods conveyed in the Corporation’s lightweight metal containers will be charged as follows:

58.3.1 Method of charging: On the gross weight of the container and contents at the rail rate appropriate to the goods involved, subject to a minimum charge as for one tonne gross weight per container. Where goods classified at Class G are so conveyed, charges will be based on the gross measurement of the container.
