half the adult fare which in the case of rail suburban services, shall be rounded down to the next multiple of ten cents.

2.9.2 Ten trip tickets: No reduction in the charge for ten trip concession tickets will be made for children. One or two children four years of age and under 15 years of age travelling on a ten trip concession ticket will, however, count as one adult, and each additional one or two children will count as one adult.

2.9.3 Sleeping berths: A special scale of charges may be applied by the Corporation for children using rail sleeping berth services.

2.9.4 Boarding school pupils: Pupils attending a primary or secondary boarding school may be issued with tickets at the appropriate fares for children four years and under 15 years of age when travelling to and from boarding school at the beginning and end of each school term, mid-term break, or recognised public holiday period. A certificate signed by the principal of the school, certifying that the pupil is travelling to or from school must be presented when tickets are purchased.

2.10 Welfare beneficiaries' and blind persons' concession fares

2.10.1 Class 1 war pensioners: On presentation of the appropriate free pass issued by the Department of Social Welfare, Class 1 war pensioners, and their accompanying attendants if the free pass is so endorsed, are entitled to travel free except that an order issued by the Department of Social Welfare shall be required to obtain a rail ferry passenger ticket.

2.10.2 Beneficiaries: Passenger tickets shall be issued at half ordinary fares to beneficiaries who hold a current Certificate of Entitlement issued by the Department of Social Welfare and endorsed as valid for travel by Corporation services except that a special schedule of concession fares shall apply on Cook Strait rail ferry services. Such concession fares on tickets issued for use on rail suburban services shall be rounded down to the next multiple of ten cents.

2.10.3 Blind persons: Blind persons who present a certificate of eligibility issued by the Director of the Royal New Zealand Foundation for the Blind at Auckland, and, if their certificate is so endorsed, one accompanying attendant, shall be issued ordinary and ten trip passenger tickets at half fare, except that a special schedule of concession fares shall apply on Cook Strait rail ferry services. Such concession fares on tickets issued for use on rail suburban services shall be rounded down to the next multiple of ten cents. Guide dogs may accompany blind persons on Corporation services at no additional charge.

2.11 Corporation employees

2.11.1 Privilege tickets: Privilege tickets may be issued to present and retired Corporation employees, their spouses and their children. Conditions for the issue of privilege tickets are governed by the relevant sections of the State Services Conditions of Employment Act 1977 and the New Zealand Railways Corporation Act 1981. The privilege fare for both adults and children four years of age and over shall be one-fourth of the ordinary adult fare.

2.11.2 Minimum charge: The minimum charge for privilege tickets other than privilege season tickets shall be 47 cents single or return.

2.11.3 Season tickets: Privilege season tickets, available for one month at one quarter of the fares for monthly season tickets, subject to a minimum charge of $4.43, may be issued to Corporation employees as provided by the State Services Conditions of Employment Act 1977 and determinations made thereunder, and the regulations made pursuant to the New Zealand Railways Corporation Act 1981.

2.11.4. Privilege ticket orders: Privilege tickets will be issued only on presentation of the prescribed orders.

2.11.5. Change of route: Passengers holding privilege tickets who desire to travel by an alternative route will be charged at privilege ticket rates for the additional distance, if any, involved. Passengers holding privilege tickets for a longer route may be permitted to travel by a shorter alternative route.

2.11.6 Restrictions: Privilege tickets for use on the Silver Fern service shall be issued at the child fare. Privilege tickets are subject to restrictions as to availability that may be imposed by the Corporation from time to time.

2.11.7 Compliance with terms and conditions: Privilege tickets are issued subject to the same terms and conditions as other tickets.

2.12 Bulk travel accounts

2.12.1 Charges: Bulk travel accounts may be opened in multiples of $100 subject to a minimum of $200 at the following scale of charges:

2.12.2 Availability: Account holders shall be issued with books of bulk travel vouchers which may be used to purchase tickets to the value of travel purchased, for use on all Corporation passenger services except that vouchers may not be used to purchase tickets for rail or road suburban services, sightseeing trips, special tours, or for motor vehicle or day excursion trips on the Cook Strait rail ferries. Bulk travel vouchers shall not be used for the purchase of tickets at concession fares.

2.12.3 Extension of bulk travel accounts: Bulk travel accounts may be extended during use in multiples of $100 travel value by payment of the prescribed amount as set out in clause 2.12.1 provided that the last voucher in the account book has not been used.

2.12.4 Application for account: Application for a bulk travel account may be lodged with any Corporation District Traffic Manager, Area Traffic Manager, Stationmaster, Road Services Branch Manager, or Officer in Charge of a Road Services Depot.

2.12.5 Issue of voucher books: Bulk travel voucher books will be issued in the name of a firm, person or Government department. They will not be issued for the purpose of resale of tickets.
