Confiscation of Motor Vehicle

PURSUANT to the Criminal Justice Act 1954, section 44B, motor vehicle registration No. EHPINZ 4327, Valiant motor car, engine and chassis No. VPINZ 4327, owned by Mr Glenn Geoffrey Hardinge, 78 Palmerston Street, Hamilton, was confiscated by Judge J. E. Millar in the District Court at Hamilton on the 11th day of February 1982, in accordance with the above Act.

Notice of Intention to Vary Hours of Sale of Liquor at Licensed Premises—West Coast Licensing Committee

PURSUANT to section 221A of the Sale of Liquor Act 1962, as amended by section 22 (14) of the Sale of Liquor Amendment Act 1976, I, John Fraser Robertson, Secretary for Justice, hereby give notice that the West Coast Licensing Committee on 18 February 1982, made an order authorising variations of the usual hours of trading for the licensed premises known as the All Nations Tavern, Barrytown, D.B. Westland Hotel, Hokitika, and New Masonic Hotel, Reefton.

To the intent that on days other than those on which licensed premises are required to be closed for the sale of liquor to the general public, the hours for the opening and closing of the said premises shall be as follows:—

(a) On any Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (not being Christmas Eve or New Year’s Eve)—Opening at 11 o’clock in the morning and closing at 10 o’clock in the evening.

(b) On any Friday, Saturday and Christmas Eve—Opening at 11 o’clock in the morning and closing at 11 o’clock in the evening.

(c) On any New Year’s Eve—Opening at 11 o’clock in the morning and closing at 00.30 o’clock on the morning of New Year’s Day.

Notice Declaring Lands to be Infected Areas Under Potato Cyst Nematode Regulations 1974 (No. 2764, Ag. 61442)

PURSUANT to regulation 3 (1) of the Potato Cyst Nematode Regulations 1974, notice is hereby given that the following lands are declared to be infected areas:—

(a) The land on which potato cyst nematode has been found—

(i) An area of 31.5554 hectares, more or less, situated north-east of and adjoining Allanton Road and bounded by the Taieri river to the east, being parts of river sections 33 and 34 on the public map of the West Taieri District in the Silverpeaks County. C.T. 267/75 (Otago Registry).

The land was previously gazetted (b) (ii) in notice No. 1342 dated 5 February 1976*. This notice should be read together with notice No. 1342.

Notice to Make Returns of Land Under the Land Tax Act 1976

PURSUANT to the Land Tax Act 1976, the Commissioner of Inland Revenue hereby gives notice as follows:—

  1. A return of land held as at noon on 31 March 1982 is required from every person and company, whether a taxpayer or not, being the owner of land in New Zealand within the meaning of the Land Tax Act 1976, if the total land value of land owned as at noon on 31 March 1982 exceeded $175,000 and the land is not of any of the classes specified in section 27 of the Land Tax Act 1976.

  2. The principal class of land exempted from land tax under section 27 of the Land Tax Act 1976 is land used solely or principally for the purposes of any business of:

(a) Animal husbandry (including poultry-keeping, bee-keeping, and the breeding of horses); or

(b) Growing fruit, vegetables, or other crop-producing plants; or

(c) Horticulture; or

(d) Viticulture.

The exemption in this paragraph does not extend to land used solely or principally for the purpose of forestry or silviculture.

  1. Land Tax is dealt with by the Masterton office of the department, and returns may be sent there or to any district office of the Inland Revenue Department, not later than 7 May 1982.

  2. Return forms are available at all district offices of the Inland Revenue Department.

  3. Any person or company failing to furnish a return within the prescribed time is liable to a fine not exceeding $500.

Commerce Act 1975—Termination of Notification of Bread Prices

PURSUANT to section 87 of the Commerce Act 1975, I, Desmond James Gasson, being duly authorised in this behalf by the Secretary of Trade and Industry hereby give the following notice.

NOTICE

  1. This notice shall come into force on the 15th day of March 1982.

  2. The requirement by which certain persons engaged in the production and sale of loaves of bread were obliged to furnish a return in the manner and form prescribed in the notification published in the New Zealand Gazette, of 26 February 1981, No. 21, page 450, is hereby terminated.

  3. The notification referred to in Clause 2 above is hereby withdrawn.

PURSUANT to section 23 of the Standards Act 1965, the Standards Council, on 26 February 1982, revoked the under-mentioned standard specification.

(A later edition of this British Standard has been endorsed as suitable for use in New Zealand).
