New Zealand Railways Corporation General Scale of Charges Notice, Amendment No. 2
Pursuant to the New Zealand Railways Corporation Act 1981, the New Zealand Railways Corporation hereby makes the following alterations and additions to the General Scale of Charges dated the 9th day of July 1982, published in the Supplement dated the 12th day of July 1982 to the New Zealand Gazette of 8 July 1982* and hereby declares that such alterations and additions shall come into force on the 15th day of December 1982.

2.13 New Zealand Railways Travel Pass
2.13.1 Conditions: A non-refundable travel pass may be made available by the Corporation for use in lieu of a ticket on all the Corporation's rail and road passenger services, and for the issue of Cook Strait rail ferry passenger tickets. Pass holders requesting sleeping berth accommodation on the Northerner will be required to pay an excess charge of $19.80 per berth.
2.13.2 Availability: The travel pass shall be available for 8, 15 or 22 consecutive days during the period 1 February to 14 December 1983, both dates inclusive. The 8 day pass may only be purchased overseas. A further high season pass is available if purchased overseas for 8, 15 or 22 consecutive days during the period 15 December 1983 to 31 January 1984, both dates inclusive.
2.13.3 Fares: Travel passes shall be charged as follows:

*These passes may only be purchased overseas.
Passes for periods overlapping into the high season will be charged at the high season fare. Children under 4 years of age accompanied by a responsible person travel free and children 4 years of age and under 15 years of age may be issued a travel pass at half fare.
2.13.4 Extension of travel pass: The pass may be extended up to a further 6 successive days at an additional charge as under:
1 February to 14 December 1983—$15 for each additional day
15 December 1983 to 31 January 1984 (passes purchased overseas only)—$20 for each additional day.
