Import Licence Tendering—Call for Tenders: Round 5

PURSUANT to the Import Control Regulations 1973, Amendment No. 3 (S.R. 1980/246), the Secretary of Trade and Industry, acting under delegated authority is calling tenders for import licences for the goods specified below. These goods constitute Round Five. This Round is made up of the 3rd Allocation of Apparel under the I.D.C. Textile Industry Development Plan and the 2nd Allocation of Plastic Apparel under the I.D.C. Plastics Industry Development Plan. In addition a special import licence allocation for handknotted and handwoven rugs and carpets of fine animal hair (including silk) is being made in terms of the Import Licence Tendering scheme to allow additional trade in these goods. Instructions for tenderers and the general terms and conditions which apply to the submission and acceptance of tenders are set out in the Guide to Import Licence Tendering dated October 1982.

Tenders should be addressed to the Registrar of Tenders, P.O. Box 3146, Wellington or be delivered by hand to the First Floor of the Bowen State Building, Wellington. Tenders for Round 5 should reach the Registrar no later than 5 p.m. on 17 January 1983.

†Indicates that goods under the relevant tariff item if imported from and being the produce of Australia do not require an import licence.

NOTE:

  1. Tenderers should refer to the Customs Tariff and the Import Licensing Schedule for a definite description of the goods included in the list above.
  2. Tenderers should be conversant with the various statutes and regulations which importing enterprises are obliged to comply with, such as the Food and Drug Regulations 1973, Safety Standards, Duties and Sales Tax, etc., where relevant.
  3. Successful tenderers under the Apparel Tendering Scheme are required to provide details of how their tender licence(s) have been used at the time of importation. Forms for this purpose will be attached to the letter of official notification sent to successful tenderers. The completed information should be sent to the Executive Officer, Textiles 1, Industries Division, Department of Trade and Industry, Private Bag, Wellington.
    Failure to provide this information is likely to result in the tenderer being debarred from further participation in the scheme.
  4. Tenderers are reminded to use a separate tender form for each tender bid. Bids may be sent in one envelope. The envelope should be marked Import Licence Tender.
