THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE
No. 141

This draft amendment will place on record the declaration of IEC 598-2-3 and give details of data which lantern manufacturers are required to provide.

The current New Zealand specification for electric luminaires (lighting fittings) is NZS 6741:1979. This is BS 4533:1971-72 which will be superseded by a later edition in 1983, based on IEC Publication 598:Luminaires.

As there will need to be an overlap period before NZS 6741:1979 (BS 4533) can be withdrawn, it is proposed to declare IEC 598 under the number NZS 6705.

The other parts of IEC proposed for declaration in New Zealand are:

598-1 (1979) Part 1. General requirements and tests. $150.50
598-2 Part 2. Particular requirements.
598-2-1 (1979) Section 1: Fixed general purpose luminaires. $12.00.

598-2-6 (1979) Section 6: Luminaires with built-in transformers for filament lamps. $20.25.
