The Standards Act 1965—Draft of New Zealand Standard Specification Available for Comment

PURSUANT to subsection (3) of section 23 of the Standards Act 1965, notice is hereby given that the following draft New Zealand standard specification is being circulated.

Number and Title of Specification
DZ 4223/2 Glass and glazing $10.

Comprising:
Part 1: Code of practice for the selection and installation of glass in buildings;
Part 2: The selection and installation of manufactured sealed insulating glass units and
Part 3: Human impact safety requirements.

As a result of the large volume of comments received on DZ 4223, Parts 1 and 2, circulated in July and November 1981, major alterations have been made to the text and this amended text is now re-issued for comment. In particular, comments are invited on the following sections:

Part 3 Human impact safety considerations which now forms a separate part of the standard; alterations have been made to the requirements.

Section 106 Glazing techniques. This material has been rearranged to provide a more logically presented set of instructions.

All persons who may be affected by this publication and who desire to comment thereon, may obtain copies at the price shown, from the Standards Association of New Zealand, Wellington Trade Centre, 15-23 Sturdee Street (or Private Bag), Wellington.

NOTE—Payment must accompany all requests for drafts.
The closing date for receipt of comment is 12 November 1982.

Tariff Notice No. 1982/219—Applications for Approval

NOTICE is hereby given that applications have been made to the Minister of Customs for concessionary entry of the following goods at the rates of Customs Duty shown:

(a) for motor vehicles which are over 30 years of age on condition that:
(i) The Collector of Customs at the Port of entry is satisfied that the parts have been specially designed for vehicles exceeding 30 years if age; and
(ii) A declaration is made by the importer that the parts will be used only in the repair or restoration of vehicles over 30 years of age.
(b) for motor vehicles between 12 and 30 years of age when imported by or on behalf of an approved vehicle museum provided that at the time of importation, a declaration under the Customs Act, is lodged with the Collector of Customs by a responsible officer of the approved museum that the parts will be used by it only for the repair or restoration of vehicles which are used only for any of the following purposes:
(1) For display as museum exhibits
(2) For restoration and subsequent display
(3) For display and use of or in connection with, exhibitions, rallies, or similar gatherings relating specifically to the aims and the activities of the approved museum

The identification reference to the application number indicates the office to which any objection should be made.

Any person wishing to lodge an objection to the granting of these applications should do so in writing to the appropriate office as indicated by the identification reference on or before 21 October 1982. Submissions should include a reference to the identification reference, application number, Tariff item and description of goods concerned and be supported by information as to:

(a) The range of equivalent goods manufactured locally;
(b) The proportion of New Zealand and imported material used in manufacture;
(c) Present and potential output; and
(d) Details of factory cost in terms of materials, labour, overhead, etc.
