New Zealand Railways Corporation—General Scale of Charges
Notice, Amendment, No. 1

Pursuant to the New Zealand Railways Corporation Act 1981, the New Zealand Railways Corporation hereby makes the following alterations and additions to the General Scale of Charges dated the 9th day of July 1982, published in the Supplement dated the 12th day of July 1982 to the New Zealand Gazette of 8th July 1982*, which General Scale of Charges superseded the General Scale of Charges previously notified in the Supplement dated the 24th day of March 1982 to the New Zealand Gazette of 18 March 1982†, and hereby declares that the following alterations and additions to the General Scale of Charges dated the 9th day of July 1982 shall come into force on the 12th day of September 1982.

2.10.2 Beneficiaries: On presentation in person of a valid Department of Social Welfare Certificate of Entitlement endorsed as available for fare concessions on Corporation passenger services, beneficiaries may be issued ordinary single tickets for travel by themselves or their spouses at the fare applicable to children four years of age and under 15 years of age or in the case of the Cook Strait rail ferry services at the schedule of concession fares set out in clause 9.2.3.

Omit this clause and substitute:

2.10.3 Blind persons: Blind persons who present a certificate of eligibility issued by the Director of the Royal New Zealand Foundation for the Blind at Auckland, and, if their certificate is so endorsed, one accompanying attendant, shall be issued ordinary and ten-trip passenger tickets at half-fare, except that a special schedule of concession fares shall apply on Cook Strait rail ferry services and for Northerner sleeping berths. Such concession fares on tickets issued for use on rail suburban services shall be rounded down to the next multiple of ten cents. Guide dogs may accompany blind persons on Corporation services at no additional charge.

Insert after clause 2.16 Page 2215, new clause 2.17:

2.17 Fractional parts

2.17.1 Except where otherwise provided, in computing charges, fractions of one cent less than half a cent in the final result shall be omitted, and half a cent or more in the final result shall be taken as one cent.

2.17.2 Where charges are prescribed to be increased or decreased and a fraction of one cent occurs in the charge as so increased or decreased, such fractions shall if less than half a cent, be omitted, and if half a cent or over shall be taken as one cent.
