The Standards Act 1965—Draft New Zealand Standard Specification Available for Comment

PURSUANT to subsection (3) of section 23 of the Standards Act 1965, notice is hereby given that the following draft New Zealand standard specification is being circulated.

Number and Title of Specification

DZ 5433 Code of practice for the transportation of hazardous substances (dangerous goods). $10

This proposed code of practice sets out the requirements for the safe transportation of hazardous substances on land. It does not specifically cover the requirements for the transportation of hazardous substances by air and sea but is designed to be compatible as far as is possible with the mandatory requirements for the air and sea modes.

The proposed code covers the classification of hazardous substances, labelling and marking requirements of packages, containers and vehicles, packaging of hazardous substances, carriage in bulk of liquids and liquefied gases, stowage and compatibilities, documentation and transport procedures. It also includes lists of hazardous substances, a list of percentages of active substances in pesticides, a list of tank requirements for harardous substances and a glossary of packagings.

All persons who may be affected by this publication and who desire to comment thereon, may obtain copies at the price shown, from the Standards Association of New Zealand, Wellington Trade Centre, 15-23 Sturdee Street (or Private Bag), Wellington.

The Standards Act 1965—Draft New Zealand Standard Specification Available for Comment

PURSUANT to subsection (3) of section 23 of the Standards Act 1965, notice is hereby given that the following draft New Zealand standard specification is being circulated.

Number and Title of Specification

DZ 5823 Buoyancy aids and marine safety harnesses and lines. $8.

This draft standard is a revision of NZS 8621:1974 Life-jackets for use in sheltered waters. It updates the earlier specification and has been expanded to include buoyancy aids.

A means of classifying the different types of buoyancy aid is provided and minimum buoyancy requirements set out for each type. A performance test for lifejackets is now included together with a specification and performance test for marine safety harnesses and safety lines.

All persons who may be affected by this publication and who desire to comment thereon, may obtain copies at the price shown, from the Standards Association of New Zealand, Wellington Trade Centre, 15-23 Sturdee Street (or Private Bag), Wellington.
