the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and
consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the follow-
ing order.

ORDER

  1. Title and commencement—(1) This order may be cited
    as the Opotiki County Council (Riding Boundaries Valida-
    tion) Order 1980.
    (2) This order shall come into force on the day after
    the date of its publication in the Gazette.

  2. Validation—The boundaries that were determined by
    the special order which was made on the 22nd day of Novem-
    ber 1979 and which is described in the Preamble to this
    order are hereby declared to be and to have always been
    validly determined by that special order, notwithstanding
    that they were determined after the time within which they
    were required, by section 56 (2) of the Local Govern-
    ment Act 1974 (as enacted by section 2 of the Local Govern-
    ment Amendment Act (No. 3) 1977), to be determined.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

WHEREAS, pursuant to section 56 (1) of the Local Govern-
ment Act 1974 (as enacted by section 2 of the Local Govern-
ment Amendment Act (No. 3) 1977), the Stratford County Council
(hereinafter referred to as the council) resolved by special
order made on the 22nd day of June 1979 that at the general
election of the council to be held on the 11th day of October
1980 the council should be elected by the electors of each
ward of the county: And whereas by section 56 (2) of the
Local Government Act 1974 (as so enacted), the council was
required, not later than the 30th day of September 1979, to
determine by special order the boundaries and names of the
ridings of the county for the purposes of that election and
the number of members to be elected to represent each
riding: And whereas the boundaries and names of the ridings
were determined by a special order that was made by the
council on the 19th day of October 1979 and were therefore not
determined within the time specified in the said section 56 (2): And
whereas it is expedient that the determinations be validated:

Now, therefore, pursuant to section 719 of the Local
Government Act 1974 (as enacted by section 2 of the Local
Government Amendment Act 1979), His Excellency the
Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent
of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.

Flight Lieutenant Stephen John Cotton (RNZAF and RAF
retired) is appointed to a commission on a fixed term
engagement of 6 years, in his present rank, with seniority
from 21 May 1975, with effect from 21 May 1980.

ferred to the Reserve of Air Force Officers until 23 June
1982, with effect from 24 June 1980.
Squadron Leader Gary Alexander Wrathall, A.F.C., is trans-
ferred to the Reserve of Air Force Officers until 3 June 1983,
with effect from 2 July 1980.

Transfer to Retired List

Wing Commander Barry Raymond Cranston is transferred
to the Retired List “B”, with effect from 16 June 1980.
