The Standards Act 1965—Draft New Zealand Standard Specification Available for Comment

Pursuant to subsection (3) of section 23 of the Standards
Act 1965, notice is hereby given that the following draft New
Zealand Standard specification is being circulated.

Number and Title of Specification

DZ 5821 Code of practice for laser safety—
Part 1: (AS 2211–1978 with New Zealand amendments)
Laser safety.
Part 2: Plain language code of practice for the safe use
of lasers in surveying, levelling, and alignment.
Part 3: Plain language code of practice for the safe use
of lasers in teaching.
(The three parts are under one cover.)

Part 1 of this draft (which includes draft New Zealand
amendments to the Australian Standard) details procedures to
protect persons from laser radiation in the 100 nm to 1 mm
wavelength range.

Parts 2 and 3 are "plain language" codes for use by workers
on site and for teaching purposes respectively.

All persons who may be affected by this publication and
who desire to comment thereon, may obtain copies at $2.65
from the Standards Association of New Zealand, World Trade

pursuant to the provisions of the Standards Act 1965.

amendments are being circulated.

DZ 501: Part 1/4A Draft Amendment No. 4A to NZS 501:
Part 1: 1957 (BS 696: Part 1: 1955) Gerber method
for the determination of fat in milk and milk products.
Apparatus.

This proposed amendment is to adopt Amendment No. 3
(Amd. 1329) and Amendment No. 4 to BS 696: Part 1
as amendments to NZS 501: Part 1.

DZ 501: Part 2/A Draft Amendment A to NZS 501: Part
2: 1971 (BS 696: Part 2: 1969) Gerber method for
the determination of fat in milk and milk products.
Methods.

This proposed amendment is to change the capacity of the
milk pipette to that in use in New Zealand, and delete the
section for correction of reading.

All persons who may be affected by these amendments
and who desire to comment thereon may obtain copies from

This draft covers the workmanship, materials, equipment
and testing required for the joining together of Grade
275 steel reinforcing bars by the application of hydrogen
controlled manual metal-arc welding, semi-automatic or
automatic gas-shielded or flux cored metal-arc welding.
