Deer Farming Notice No. 2 1980

Pursuant to section 12A of the Wild Animal Control Act 1977, the Director-General of Forests hereby gives the following notice.

NOTICE

  1. This notice may be cited as the Deer Farming Notice No. 2, 1980.

  2. Deer farming of all species of deer is prohibited in the areas or places specified in the First Schedule.

  3. Subject to the provisions of the Wild Animal Control Act 1977 and the provisions of clause 2 of this notice, farming of the species (including crosses and hybrids of such species) of deer specified in the Second Schedule hereto is permitted in the areas named therein but is prohibited in all other areas.

  4. Deer Farming Notice No. 1, 1980, published in the New Zealand Gazette dated 10 January 1980, page 27, is hereby revoked.

FIRST SCHEDULE

(a) (i) All that area in the Mangonui, Whangaroa, Hokianga, Bay of Islands, Hobson, and Whangarei Counties lying to the south, west, and north of a line commencing at the mouth of the Wairoa Stream near Ahipara and proceeding generally easterly, southerly, and westerly along the Wairoa Stream to the Kaitaia Motukaraka Road, along the Kaitaia Motukaraka Road No. 1 State Highway, along No. 1 State Highway to the Peria Valley Road, along the Peria Valley Road and the Pamapuria Taipa Road to the Mangonui Oruru Road, along the Mangonui Oruru Road to No. 10 State Highway, along No. 10 State Highway to the Waimate Spring- bank Road, along the Waimate Springbank Road to and along the Wiroa Road, along the Okaihau Kaeo Road to No. 1 State Highway, along No. 1 State Highway to the Horeke Okaihau Road, along the Horeke Okaihau Road to the Horeke Rangia- hua Road, along the Horeke Rangiahua Road and the Utakura River to the Waihou River, along the shoreline of the Waihou River and the Hokianga Harbour to the mouth of the Waima River, along the Waima River to the Taheke River, along the Taheke River to the Punakiterere River, along the Punakiterere River to and along Piccadilly Road, along the Kaikohe Maungatapere Road to Opouteke Road, along Opouteke Road to and along Murrays Road, along the Tangowahine Valley Road to and along the Awakino Avoca Road, along the Awakino Valley Road to and along Waimata Road, along Awakino Valley Road to No. 12 State Highway, along No. 12 State Highway to and along the Aranga Coast Road to the coastline.

(ii) All that area in the Bay of Islands and Whangarei Counties lying to the east of a line commencing at the mouth of the Waitangi River and proceeding westerly and generally south-easterly along the Waitangi River to the Haruru Falls Road, along Haruru Falls Road to the Blackbridge Paihia Road, along the Blackbridge Paihia Road to No. 10 State Highway, along No. 10 State Highway to No. 1 State Highway, along No. 1 State Highway to the Whakapara Russell Road, along the Whakapara Russell Road to and along Pigs Head Road, along the Opuawhanga Whananaki Road to and along Jubilee Road, along Whananaki South Road, and along Whananaki Inlet to the coastline.

(b) All that area in the Waitemata City lying to the south and west of a line commencing from the western coast- line at the mouth of the Waitakere River and generally following easterly along Bethells Road up the Waitakere River Valley to Waitakere; thence along the southern side of the Waitakere and Swanson Roads to the intersection of O'Neills Road; thence generally south along O'Neills Road and easterly along Pooks Road to Candia Road, then generally southwards along Candia Road to Henderson Valley Road; thence generally easterly along Henderson Valley Road and Parrs Cross Road to its intersection with the West Coast Road, then generally westerly and south by West Coast Road and Shaw Road and Shaw Road to the scenic drive to Titirangi; thence southwards along the South Titirangi Road to Laingholm Point.

(c) All that land in the Franklin County and Manukau City lying to the south and east of the roads herein described and shown on Topographical Maps NZ MSI Sheets N43 and N48 and extending from Kawakawa Bay in the Hauraki Gulf generally westwards via Kawakawa Road to Clevedon; thence generally southwards via Monument Road, Skyhigh Road and White Road to Hunua; thence generally southerly via Hunua Road, Pararimu Road and Lyons Road to the junction with State Highway 2; thence generally easterly via State Highway 2, Mangatangi Road and Miranda Road to Miranda and the Firth of Thames.

(d) All that land in the Thames Coromandel District and Ohinemuri County north and east of State Highway 25 between Thames and Kopu, and State Highway 26 from Kopu to Paeroa, and State Highway 2 from Paeroa through Waihi township north along State Highway 25 to Whitiioa.

(e) All that land in Taranaki Land District, lying within 7 kilometres of the boundary of Mount Egmont National Park.

SECOND SCHEDULE

Fallow deer: All New Zealand.
Red deer: All New Zealand.
Rusa deer: North Island: south of the northern boundary of Franklin County.
Sambar deer. North Island: south of the northern boundary of Franklin County.
Sika deer: Rotorua District and counties of Taupo and Hawke's Bay, and that part of Rangitikei County east of State Highway No. 1 and north of State Highway No. 54.
Wapiti: All New Zealand.
Whitetail deer: South Island and Stewart Island.

Notifying the Exchange of State Forest Land for other Land—Wellington Conservancy

Pursuant to section 22 of the Forests Act 1949, as substituted by section 7 of the Forest Amendment Act 1976, the Minister of Forests has exchanged the State forest land described in the First Schedule hereto for other land described in the Second Schedule hereto.

0.0055 hectares more or less, being Lot 2, D.P. 46422.
