Alterations to the Scales of Charges Upon the New Zealand Government Railways—Amendment No. 22

GENERAL SCALE OF CHARGES

PURSUANT to the Government Railways Act 1949, the Minister of Railways hereby makes the following alteration to the Scales of Charges and the rates, charges, terms, and conditions contained in the General Scale of Charges, published in the supplement dated the 3rd day of December 1973, to the New Zealand Gazette of the 29th day of November 1973, and hereby declares that such alteration shall come into force on the 1st day of October 1979.

LOCAL RATES SCALE OF CHARGES

PURSUANT to the Government Railways Act 1949, the Minister of Railways hereby makes the following alteration to the Local Rates Scale of Charges published in the Supplement, dated the 3rd day of December 1973, to the New Zealand Gazette of the 29th day of November 1973, and hereby declares that such alteration shall come into force on the 1st day of October 1979.

Authorisation of the New Zealand Motor Show, Auckland 1979

PURSUANT to the Exhibitions Act 1910, the Minister of Trade and Industry hereby gives notice as follows:

  1. In this notice, unless the context otherwise requires—

“The Act” means the Exhibitions Act 1910;

“The promoter” means the New Zealand Motor Shows Ltd.;

“The exhibition” means a public exhibition of works of industry and art to be conducted by the promoter at the Showgrounds, Auckland, from 19 October 1979 to 28 October 1979 (both dates inclusive) and to be known as the New Zealand Motor Show Auckland 1979.

  1. The exhibition is hereby authorised and declared to be an exhibition within the meaning of the Act.

  2. Subject to the conditions set out in the Schedule hereto, the following provisions are hereby suspended in so far as they relate to work done or business conducted or services rendered in the said premises during the period of the exhibition, by or on behalf of the promoter, or by or on behalf of any exhibitor at the exhibition, or by any person employed in or about the exhibition, namely—such of the provisions of—

(a) The Industrial Relations Act 1973 and all collective agreements and awards in force thereunder;

(b) The Shops and Offices Act 1955;

(c) The Shop Trading Hours Act 1977; and

(d) The Factories Act 1946

as relate to the hours of commencing or ceasing work, or to the issue of permits, or to the payment for overtime, or extended hours, or to holidays and half-holidays, or to the closing of shops.

SCHEDULE

  1. Forty hours shall constitute a week’s work, to be worked on 5 days of the week, and 8 hours shall constitute a day’s work in or about the exhibition, and with the exception set out in clause 2 hereof, the daily hours shall be worked consecutively.

  2. No person shall be employed in or about the exhibition for more than 4 hours without an interval of at least three-quarters of an hour for a meal.

  3. (a) Any person employed during any day in or about the exhibition who is employed on that day for more than 8 hours, or before the hour of 8 a.m., or after the hour of 10.30 p.m., or on any day in excess of five days per week (whether the excess employment is in or about the exhibition or otherwise) shall be paid for the excess employment at not less than half as much again as the ordinary rate for the first 2 hours and at not less than twice the ordinary rate thereafter.

(b) Any person employed in or about the exhibition on any day that would, but for the provisions of this order, have been a whole holiday for that person by virtue of any Act, or of any collective agreements or awards shall be paid for all work done on that day at not less than twice the ordinary rate,
