The Standards Act 1965—Draft Amendments to New Zealand Standard Specifications Available for Comment

PURSUANT to subsection (3) of section 23 of the Standards Act 1965, notice is hereby given that the following draft amendments are being circulated.

Number and Description of Draft

DZ 4506/A1 Draft amendment to NZS 4506:1978 Portable fire extinguishers of the water, foam, and dry powder types.

This proposed amendment refers to clause 3 only and would permit the use of a controlled discharge on dry powder type extinguishers of less than 2.5 litre capacity.

Comments required by 31 July 1979.

DZ 5808/AA Draft amendment to NZS 5808:1979 (BS 5451:1977) Electrically conducting and antistatic rubber footwear.

This amendment proposes the declaration of BS 5451:1977 as a New Zealand Standard. BS 5451 replaces BS 3825:1964 which was adopted as NZS 2032 in 1965.

For use in New Zealand proposed amendments to the British Standard have been drafted to cover the requirements of the Electrical Supply Regulations 1976 and to provide guidance on the correct type of socks to wear with footwear made to the standard.

Comments required by 20 July 1979.

The Standards Act 1965—Endorsement of Amendment to Overseas Specification

PURSUANT to section 17 of the Standards Act 1965, the Standards Council, on 21 June 1979, endorsed as suitable for use in New Zealand, the under-mentioned amendment to the relevant endorsed specification.

Copies of the specification so amended may be ordered from the Standards Association of New Zealand, World Trade Center, 15-23 Sturdee Street (or Private Bag), Wellington.

Copies of the amendment are obtainable separately.
