The Standards Act 1965—Draft Amendment to New Zealand
Standard Specification Available for Comment
PURSUANT to subsection (3) of section 23 of the Standards
Act 1965, notice is hereby given that the following draft
amendment is being circulated.
Number and Description of Draft
DZ 5401/2A Draft amendment No. 2 to NZS 5401:1976 Seat
belt assemblies for motor vehicles.
This proposed amendment would delete the requirements
of clause 7.2.5 covering the area of the locking mechanism
to which force has to be applied to release the buckle. This
would allow the use in New Zealand of some superior types
of overcass-produced buckles which are easier to release, but
which still do not permit inadvertent release. Deletion of the
specification for the size of the lettering of the release pro-
cedure is also proposed, but the new clause would provide
for lettering to be clearly and permanently marked.
All persons who may be affected by this amendment and
who desire to comment thereon may obtain copies from the
Standards Association of New Zealand, World Trade Center,
15-23 Sturdee Street (or Private Bag), Wellington.
The closing date for the receipt of comment is 13 April
1979.
Dated at Wellington this 14th day of March 1979.
DENYS R. M. PINFOLD,
Director, Standards Association of New Zealand.
