Boundaries of Hawera District and the Hawera, Normanby, Okaiwa and Ohangai Wards of Hawera District Defined
PURSUANT to section 48 of the Local Government Act 1974, the Secretary for Local Government hereby defines, as set out in the Schedule hereto, the boundaries of the Hawera District and the Hawera, Normanby, Okaiwa and Ohangai Wards of the Hawera District, following the Union of the Borough of Hawera and County of Hawera, to form the Hawera District by Order in Council, made on 18 September 1978, and published in the New Zealand Gazette, No. 82, 28 September 1978, p. 2646.
SCHEDULE
BOUNDARIES OF HAWERA DISTRICT
ALL that area in the Taranaki Land District containing 500 square kilometres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing on the mean high water mark of the sea in the middle of the mouth of the Manawapou River and proceeding generally north-westerly along the mean high water mark of the sea to a point in line with the middle of Inaha Road in Block VII, Waimate Survey District; thence northerly to and along the middle of Inaha Road to the middle of Normanby Road; thence westerly along the middle of that road to a point in line with the middle of a public road forming the eastern boundary of Ngatimanuhiakai 10B; thence northerly to and along the middle of that road to its termination in Ngatimanuhiakai 15A 1B; thence northerly along the eastern boundaries of Ngatimanuhiakai 15A 1B and 15B, to the southern boundary of Ngatimanuhiakai 21B 2B; thence easterly along that boundary and northerly along the eastern boundaries of Ngatimanuhiakai 21B 2B and 21B 2A to the southern boundary of Lot 2, D.P. 9598; thence easterly along the southern boundary of that lot and its production to a point in line with the middle of Palmer Road; thence northerly to and along the middle of that road to its intersection with Skeet Road; thence easterly along the middle of Skeet Road to the middle of the Waingongoro River; thence generally southerly down the middle of that river to a point in line with the north-western end of Onewhaia Road, thence to and along a right line and the north-western boundary of that road to the middle line of that road; thence south-easterly along the middle of that road to the north-western boundary of Araukuku 8E 2; thence south-westerly and south-easterly along the north-western and south-western boundaries of the said Araukuku 8E 2, to and south-easterly along the south-western boundary of Section 57, Block J, Hawera Survey District, to the southernmost corner of that section; thence northerly along a right line across Mountain Road to the south-western corner of Section 12, Block II, Hawera Survey District; thence easterly along the southern boundary of the said Section 12 and its production to the middle of Mangapoua Stream; thence southerly down the middle of that stream to a point in line with the southern boundary of Section 20, Block II, Hawera Survey District; thence easterly to and along the southern boundary of that section and its production to the middle of Fraser Road; thence generally north-easterly, easterly and northerly along the middle of Fraser and Tiromoana Roads to a point in line with the southern boundary of Part Section 4, Block II, Hawera Survey District; thence easterly to and along the southern boundaries of the said Part Section 4, Lots 9 and 8, D.P. 673, to the easternmost corner of the last-mentioned lot; thence north-westerly along the north-eastern boundary of the aforesaid Lot 8, D.P. 673, to the middle of the Ararata Stream; thence generally north-easterly up the middle of that stream to a point in line with the western boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 6220, thence northerly to and along that boundary and its production to the middle of Rotokare Road; thence generally south-westerly and north-westerly along the middle of that road to a point in line with the western boundary of Section 11, Block XV, Ngaere Survey District; thence northerly, easterly and southerly to and along the western, northern and eastern boundaries of the said Section 11 to the northern boundary of Section 16, Block XV, Ngaere Survey District; thence easterly along that boundary and its production to the middle of Rotokare Road; thence north-easterly along the middle of that road to a point in line with the southern boundary of Section 12, Block XV, Ngaere Survey District; thence easterly and northerly to and along the southern and eastern boundaries of the said Section 12 to the southern boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 1340; thence easterly along the southern boundary of that lot to the western boundary of Section 25, Block XV, Ngaere Survey District; thence northerly and south-easterly along the western and north-eastern boundaries of the said Section 25 to the westernmost corner of Lot 1, D.P. 481; thence north-easterly along the north-western boundary of Block XVI, Ngaere Survey District to the middle of the Makino Stream; thence generally southerly down the middle of that stream to the south-western boundary of Lot 8, D.P. 481; thence south-easterly along the south-western boundary of the said Lot 8 to its southernmost corner; thence again south-easterly along a right line to Roimata Trig. Station in Block XIII, Omoana Survey District; thence north-easterly along a right line to Waipuna Trig. Station; thence generally easterly along the southern boundaries of Sections 1 and 3, Block XIV, Omoana Survey District, and the last-mentioned boundary produced to the middle of Whenuakura Valley Road; thence generally south-easterly and easterly along the middle of Whenuakura Valley Road and Epcro Road to a point in line with the western boundary of Section 3, Block XVI, Omoana Survey District; thence generally southerly to and along the western boundary of the said Section 3 and its production to the left bank of the Moeawatea Stream, thence generally northerly up the left bank of the said stream to the north-eastern corner of Section 9, Block XV, Omoana Survey District, being the western side of Lower Moeawatea Road, thence again up the left bank of the aforesaid Moeawatea Stream to a point in line with the middle of the Lower Moeawatea Road; thence generally southerly along the middle of that road to a point in line with the northern boundary of Section 2, Block IV, Opaku Survey District; thence generally westerly to and along the northern boundaries of the said Section 2 and Section 1 of Block IV, aforesaid, and Section 2, Block III, Opaku Survey District, to the eastern side of Whenuakura Valley Road; thence northerly along the eastern side of that road to a point in line with the north-western boundary of Subdivision 3 of Kahoroa No. 3 Block; thence south-westerly to and along the north-western boundary of the said Subdivision 3 to Matai Trig. Station; thence south-easterly along the south-western boundary of the aforesaid Subdivision 3 of Kahoroa No. 3 Block to the north-western boundary of the Rotorangi Block; thence south-westerly along that boundary and its production to the middle of the Patea River; thence southerly down the middle of that river to a point in line with the south-western boundary of the said Rotorangi Block; thence south-westerly along a right line to Torere Trig. Station on the southern boundary of Block V, Opaku Survey District; thence south-westerly along a right line to the source of the Poroporo Stream; thence generally south-westerly down the middle of the Poroporo and Ingahape Streams and the Manawapou River to its mouth, being the point of commencement.
HAWERA WARD
ALL that area in the Taranaki Land District, Hawera District, containing 5 square kilometres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at the junction of Waihi Road and Fantham Street, being the north-western corner of Lot 1, D.P. 11253, and proceeding generally easterly and south-easterly along the southern side of Fantham Street to a point on the north-eastern boundary of part Lot 8, D.P. 1022, in line with the south-eastern side of an unnamed road crossing the Wellington-New Plymouth Railway and defined on S.O. Plan 5950; thence north-easterly along a right line to and along that road side to the north-eastern boundary of the said railway; thence south-easterly along that north-eastern boundary to the northernmost corner of Scott Street; thence generally north-easterly along the south-eastern boundaries of part Sections 180 and 179, Patea District as shown on D.P. 3543,
