The Standards Act 1965—Endorsements Cancelled

PURSUANT to section 17 of the Standards Act 1965, the Standards Council, on 30 November 1979, cancelled the endorsement of the under-mentioned specifications.

BS 3494:— Recommendations on semi-conductor devices—
Part 1: 1967 Essential electrical and mechanical ratings and characteristics.
Part 2: 1966 Methods of measurement of the characteristics of diodes and transistors.

BS 4017:1973 Capacitors for use in tubular fluorescent, high-pressure mercury and low-pressure sodium vapour lamp circuits. (A later edition of this standard has been endorsed as suitable for use in New Zealand.)

The Standards Act 1965—Draft New Zealand Standard Specification Available for Comment

PURSUANT to subsection (3) of section 23 of the Standards Act 1965, notice is hereby given that the following draft New Zealand standard specification is being circulated.

Number and Title of Specification
DZ 5811 Draft specification for industrial safety belts and harnesses (A4, 50 pages, $3.00).

NOTE—Part 1 of this draft standard incorporates a specification for the materials, design, manufacture and testing of industrial safety belts and harnesses intended to withstand a free fall of the wearer over a specified distance. It applies to three types of belt and three types of harness, and to their attachments.

Part 2 sets out a code of practice on the selection, use and maintenance of safety belts, harnesses and self-locking safety anchorages.

When published, the standard will replace NZS 1661 and NZS 2253.

All persons who may be affected by this publication and who desire to comment thereon, may obtain copies at the price shown, from the Standards Association of New Zealand, World Trade Center, 15-23 Sturdee Street (or Private Bag), Wellington.

NOTE—Payment must accompany all requests for drafts. The closing date for the receipt of comment is 31 January 1980.
