THE following statement has been made from Buckingham Palace, London:
“It is announced that The Queen, on the recommendation of Her Majesty’s Ministers in New Zealand, has been graciously pleased to approve the appointment of The Honourable David Stuart Beattie, Judge of the Supreme Court, as Governor-General in succession to The Right Honourable Sir Keith Holyoake, G.C.M.G., C.H., who will retire on 25 October 1980.”
