(2) The council shall appoint and maintain a Civil Defence Committee which committee shall include a nominee of the Director of Civil Defence and a nominee of the Commissioner of Works.
- Finance—(1) For the purposes of and subject to section 123 of the Local Government Act 1974, the net expenditure of the council shall be charged and assessed to each constituent authority in the proportion that the adjusted net capital value of the district of that authority bears to the total adjusted net capital value of the region.
(2) For the purposes of section 123 of the Local Government Act 1974, the functions of regional planning and civil defence shall be deemed to be functions for the benefit of the whole region.

Redefining the Limits for the Harbour of Auckland

THE HON. D. S. THOMSON PRESIDING IN COUNCIL
PURSUANT to section 3 of the Harbours Act 1950, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby redefines the limits of the Port of Auckland to be as described in the Schedule hereto and hereby revokes the Warrant of 28 November 1958* defining the limits of the Port of Auckland, and the Order in Council of 18 September 1967†.
SCHEDULE
ALL that area of tidal waters, excluding thereout the waters of Otara Creek eastwards of the weir as shown on plan marked M.D. 12604, inside a straight line drawn from the northern extreme of the eastern head of the Tamaki River to the southern extreme of Park Point (Waiheke Island); thence by high water mark of ordinary spring tide to the northern extreme of the western entrance to Owhanake Bay; thence by a straight line to the south-westernmost point of Rakino Island, thence by a straight line to Toroa Point on the mainland, as shown by the lines coloured pink on the plan marked M.D. 15929 and deposited in the office of the Ministry of Transport at Wellington.

Appointment of Aide-de-Camp (Additional) to The Queen
HER Majesty the Queen has been pleased to approve the appointment of Brigadier J. L. Smith, M.B.E., B.A., as Aide-de-Camp (additional) to Her Majesty, with effect from 16 November 1978, in succession to Brigadier B. M. Poananga, C.B.E., who is appointed Chief of General Staff.
