the 24th and moved slowly southeast to pass down the east coast
of the North Island.

Late on the 28th a further depression formed on a cold front in
the Tasman Sea and began to move southeast towards New Zealand.
The anticyclone had moved further east by the 29th and a strong
northerly flow was established between the two systems. The
depression and cold front crossed most of New Zealand on the
30th and brought widespread rain especially in the South Island.
A very cold southerly flow behind the depression became established
over the South Island on the 31st and there were showers in many
places.
