SECOND SCHEDULE—EXEMPTIONS CREATED—continued
Classes of Goods
Base metal fittings and other articles of textile when declared—
(a) By a manufacturer for use by him only in the manufacture and repair of saddlery;
(b) By an importer that they will be sold only to manufacturers for use in the manufacture and repair of saddlery
Beads (excluding those of imitation pearl), pierced or unpierced but not mounted, set or strung, on declaration they will be used only in making imitation jewellery
Catgut, imitation, and other materials of a type suitable for stringing sporting racquets when imported in individual lengths not exceeding 14 metres
Corset busks and similar supports for articles of apparel or clothing accessories
Crop and herbage seeds included in the New Zealand Schedules of Acceptable Cultivars and approved for exemption by the Minister or by the holder of the office of Assistant Secretary (Industries) in the Department of Trade and Industry
Fans and hand screens, non mechanical, of any material; frames and handles therefor and parts of such frames and handles of any material
Footwear, protective, suited for industrial or similar purposes as may be approved by the Minister of Customs as admissible under Part II of the Tariff
Gloves, mittens and mitts, padded, spiked, or with similar protective devices, suited for use only in the following sports, viz: baseball or softball, boxing, cricket, ice hockey
Jewellers’ findings, being identifiable parts of jewellery known as jewellers’ findings
Necks and inserts for hot water bottles
Ornaments (other than ornaments of plastic, and buckles) on declaration they will be used only in the manufacture of footwear
Pallets, used in the handling of goods, laden or unladen, when imported temporarily under such security as the Collector may require that the pallets will be exported
Parts when declared by a manufacturer for use by him only in the manufacture of artificial limbs, surgical boots and amputees’ socks
Ski boots
Spare and service parts of life rafts and lifejackets
Stoppers for hot water bottles
Tampons, being sanitary pads designed for internal wear
Goods or classes of goods as may be approved by the Minister, being bona fide gifts from a person abroad
Goods which—
(1) Do not exceed in value in respect of any one importation the sum of fifty dollars ($50) (C.I.F. and E. New Zealand currency); and
(2) Are imported in a postal packet; and
(3) Are imported by a person for his own domestic use and not for the purposes of sale or business and not for use in the trade, calling or profession of the importer; and
(4) Are not imported in connection with a contract of sale and purchase wherever effected, which has been negotiated or solicited in New Zealand; and
(5) Are not imported by the same inward mail as any other goods dispatched from the same country of origin by the same exporter:
Provided that goods imported by the same inward mail as any other dispatched from the same country of origin by the same exporter shall be allowed the benefit of this exemption if the importer satisfies the Collector of Customs by such evidence as the Collector deems sufficient, that the goods comply with all other conditions of this exemption
Heirlooms under such conditions as the Minister may prescribe
