Insurance Companies Deposits Act 1953—Proposed Release of Deposits

THE Liverpool and London and Globe Insurance Co. Ltd. has given notice to the Public Trustee that it has ceased to carry on insurance business in New Zealand and proposes, pursuant to section 19 of the above-mentioned Act, to withdraw the deposits which have been made by it with the Public Trustee.

The Public Trustee therefore gives notice, pursuant to section 19 (3) of the above-mentioned Act, that, being satisfied that the liabilities of the above-mentioned company in respect of the class of insurance designated as Classes 1, 2, 3, and 4 in the First Schedule of the above-mentioned Act have been provided for, he proposes to release to the abovementioned company on or after 10 April 1978 the deposit made by it in respect of Classes 1, 2, 3, and 4 insurance business.

Any objections to the release of the deposits should be lodged with the Public Trustee, Lambton Quay, Wellington 1, on or before 31 March 1978.

Notice of Acquisition of Public Reserve by the Crown

PURSUANT to the Reserves and Domains Act 1953, notice is hereby given that the land, described in the Schedule hereto, has been acquired as a reserve for recreation purposes, subject to the provisions of Part II of the said Act.

Addition of Land to Hauraki Gulf Maritime Park

PURSUANT to the Hauraki Gulf Maritime Park Act 1967, the Minister of Lands hereby declares that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall, on and after the 24th day of November 1976, be added to and form part of the Hauraki Gulf Maritime Park as a reserve for recreation purposes to be administered by the Hauraki Gulf Maritime Park Board.

Environmental Impact Report Notified—Te Marua Water Storage and Treatment Scheme

THE Commission for the Environment has received an environmental impact report prepared by the Wellington Regional Water Board on the proposal to construct two large reservoirs and a water treatment plant on terraces of the Hutt River at Te Marua, north of Upper Hutt City. The report assesses the impact of the proposal on the local environs and community as well as its impact upon recreational uses of the river and the proposed adjoining regional park.

Representations in writing on the environmental aspects of the proposal and on the report are invited and should be sent to the Commission for the Environment, P.O. Box 11-244, Wellington, before 7 April 1978.

Copies of the report may be obtained from the Wellington Regional Water Board, MED Building, 40-44 Cuba Street, P.O. Box 11-245, Wellington.

The report may be read at the public libraries in Upper Hutt, Lower Hutt, Pinehaven, Petone, and Porirua as well as at the libraries of the four main centres and the seven university institutions.

DZ 4551/A2 Draft amendment No. 2 to NZS 4551:1974 Portable fire extinguishers of the halogenated hydrocarbon type. (A4, 2 p.)

This amendment will bring NZS 4551 into line with the revised series of fire extinguisher standards now being prepared.

This is a draft revision of NZS 2018, a 1960 British standard which was adopted for use in New Zealand in 1965.
