C. B. ANDERSON,
for Director-General of Agriculture and Fisheries.
S.R. 1975/57
GENERAL INFORMATION
The following explanatory notes do not form part of this standard grade, but are presented for the information of growers/exporters.
-
In the opinion of the New Zealand Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, this standard grade will permit the entry of New Zealand onions to all countries to which they are likely to be exported.
-
Notwithstanding clause 1 of these notes, it is the ultimate responsibility of the exporter to ensure that onions exported meet the requirements of the importing country and the importer.
-
Export inspection should be carried out in the districts of origin if at all practicable.
-
To avoid delays in the entry of consignments to European markets particularly, the onions should be accompanied by a Control Certificate which lists the details of the consignment including grade, and is signed by an authorised inspector. This is in addition to the Plant Health Certificate and any other necessary documentation.
-
The uniformity of sizing requirements are included to comply with those of the countries listed in the Third Schedule. However, it is the Ministry’s view that exports to other countries should also comply with the uniformity of sizing requirements, except where otherwise agreed between exporter and importer.
