Paragraph 8. Omit this paragraph and substitute:
LUGGAGE OF PASSENGERS TRAVELLING BY AIR, OR BY RAIL AND AIR
- Passengers travelling by air services may have their luggage checked and conveyed by rail and in the case of an inter-island journey by the department’s Wellington–Blenheim or Wellington–Nelson rail/air services or by the Cook Strait Rail Ferries.
The following charges will be payable, and in this connection, when charges at parcel rates are levied, the terminal charge provided for in section 55, paragraph 4 will not apply:

*Plus excess luggage charges (if any) for the distance travelled by rail.
Paragraph 9 (a). Under sub-heading “Charges” (in 14th line) omit “paragraph 2”; insert “paragraph 4”.

This section is hereby revoked and the following new section substituted therefor:

Pedal Bicycles or Tricycles

Bicycles, pedal, assembled, will be charged as follows:
Bicycles, seated to carry one rider .. .. As 15 kg at ordinary parcels rates.
Bicycles, seating more than one rider .. As 15 kg at parcels rates plus 50%.
Bicycles, with motor propelling attachments, total weight not exceeding 25 kg .. As 15 kg at double parcels rates.
Bicycles, fitted with parcels delivery carriers .. As motor bicycles, section 53.
With parcels carriers attached .. .. As 15 kg at parcels rates plus 50%. -
Bicycles, pedal, partially assembled, not packed in cases, cartons, cardboard envelopes, canvas bags or crates will be charged as follows:
Each machine (consignors are to certify as to the number of machines in each package) .. Each machine charged separately as 15 kg at ordinary parcels rates.
With parcels carriers attached .. .. Each machine charged separately as 15 kg at parcels rates plus 50%. -
Tricycles, pedal, n.o.s., will be charged as 15 kg per tricycle at double parcels rates. Children’s tricycles not accompanying passengers will be charged as 15 kg per tricycle at ordinary parcels rates. See section 46, paragraph 7 (a), re children’s tricycles accompanying passengers.

Bicycles or tricycles, pedal, assembled, partially assembled or completely unassembled, packed in cases, cartons, cardboard envelopes, canvas bags, or crates will be charged on actual weight at parcels rates.

Terminal charges as per section 55, paragraph 4, will apply to bicycles not accompanying passengers. The terminal charge will not apply to bicycles accompanying passengers.

Conditions—The charges on bicycles or tricycles (pedal) accompanying passengers must be prepaid in all cases.
The charges on bicycles not accompanying passengers must be prepaid, provided that in the case of an unattended station, or of an attended station at a time when no employee is on duty, bicycles may, at the discretion of the department, be accepted without prepayment of freight subject to an additional charge of 50c per consignment.
Bicycles, pedal, unpacked (assembled or unassembled) not accompanying passengers will be charged at the rate specified in this section whether consigned as parcels or goods traffic. In the case of goods traffic the surcharge provided for in section 71, paragraph 2, will apply if the freight is not prepaid.
