There are still available sets of these valuable prestige volumes.

This 16-page booklet outlines the selection of suitable kiln schedules. The inter-relationships of the variables involved in drying timber are set out, along with the requirements to be taken into consideration, such as grade, thickness, width, and end use of a particular species. Both low- and high-temperature drying are discussed and also special kiln treatments such as preliminary steaming, intermediate high-humidity treatment, equalising, and final conditioning. The kiln schedules are presented in tabular form giving wet and dry bulb temperatures and final conditioning times for various species and moisture contents. Comments are attached to these schedules regarding characteristic features of the kilning of the species and the expected range of drying times.
