Hearing: 14 June 1976.
Appearances: Mr P. E. Leloir for Acting Comptroller of Customs. Written submissions from the importer were received and considered.
DECISION OF THE TRIBUNAL
Black Pirate is a paper-back novel that purports to be a history of a negro buccaneer of the early nineteenth century. It contains some badly-written descriptions of violence and sex, which have some claim to be justified by the life and times of the main character. Accordingly, although this book does not rise above the level of pulp fiction, the tribunal finds it to be not indecent.
Dated this 9th day of July 1976.
LAURENCE M. GREIG, Chairman.

DECISION OF THE TRIBUNAL
This is an expensive, large, case-bound book. It is almost entirely a book of photographs with captions and some text at the beginning and end of the book. It is said to be aimed at providing sex education for children with an emphasis on sexual liberation.
