34. Railway Employees' Privilege Tickets

35. Privilege Tickets—Privilege tickets at one-fourth the ordinary fares (section 2), fares as specified in section 5, paragraph 1 (a), 6, 7, 11, and 13, or local fares (sections 39 and 40), where applicable, may be issued to railway employees and their wives and children in terms of the State Services Remuneration and Conditions of Employment Act 1969 and determinations made thereunder, and the regulations made pursuant to the Government Railways Act 1949. Children 4 years of age and over will be charged the adult privilege fare.

36. The Minimum Charge for privilege tickets other than privilege season tickets will be 22c single or return.

37. Privilege Season Tickets, available for 1 month, at one-fourth of the fares for monthly season tickets (sections 26, 39, or 40), subject to a minimum charge of $1.95, may be issued to railway employees as provided by the State Services Remuneration and Conditions of Employment Act 1969 and determinations made thereunder, and regulations made pursuant to the Government Railways Act 1949.

38. Privilege Ticket Orders—Privilege tickets will be issued only on presentation of the prescribed orders.

39. Change of Route—Passengers holding privilege tickets who desire to travel by an alternative route will be charged at privilege-ticket rates for the additional distance, if any, involved. Passengers holding privilege tickets for a longer route may be permitted to travel by a shorter alternative route.

40. Availability—Privilege tickets, except season tickets, will have unlimited availability.

41. Break of Journey—Privilege tickets based on ordinary fares will be subject to the provisions of section 2, paragraph 3. Privilege tickets based on local fares will be subject to the provisions of section 39, paragraph 2 (c), and section 40, paragraph 2 (c).

35. Special Trains

36. Special trains may be run and application in this regard is to be made to the District Traffic Manager.

37. Such trains will be subject to conditions and charges to be fixed by the department, which may require payment of a deposit, as a guarantee, of such sum as shall be determined.

38. The department reserves the right to decline any application, and will run special trains only at its option.

39. The department reserves to itself the right to forward any of its ordinary traffic by any special train, provided that no traffic for which the special train was ordered is thereby prevented from being carried by such train. No reduction of the special-train charges shall be made on account of the train being so utilised by the department.

40. Restrictions on Travel by Specified Trains

41. General—Any person who travels by a train for any journey which, according to the department’s timetables or other public notices, he is not entitled to make by that train, shall, without prejudice to any other penalty to which he may be liable, pay the appropriate fare for the shortest journey which he is entitled to make by that train.

42. Ticket Restrictions—Tickets issued under the sections of the General Scale of Charges shown against the train services listed below shall not be available for use on those services:

(c) Northerner .. 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 20, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 30, 31, 39, and 40.
(d) Blue Streak .. 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 20, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 30, 31, 39, and 40.
(e) Endeavour .. 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 20, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 30, 31, 39, and 40.
(f) Southerner .. 2, 13, 20, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 30, 31, and 39.

3. Tickets issued under the provisions of section 34 are subject to restrictions imposed by the department from time to time.
