Fares for distances exceeding 1130 kilometres will be computed by adding to the fare for 1130 kilometres the fare at the foregoing scale, or at the scale for ordinary fares (section 2) where cheaper, for the additional distance involved.

21 Miscellaneous Concessions
- General—(a) Subject to the conditions set out hereafter, tickets may be issued at the special excursion fares specified in section 20, or as otherwise provided in this section, for travel by all rail passenger services except the Silver Star, Silver Fern, Northerner, Blue Streak, Endeavour or Southerner services. Fares as specified in sections 3, 5 paragraphs 1 (a), (b), 6, 7, and 11, less 10 percent, may be granted to approved organisations for travel on these services. Such tickets will have the same availability (both as to period of time and break of journey) as ordinary tickets (section 2). Tickets at section 3 fares, less 10 percent, are not available on the Silver Star sleeper train service during the following periods—
(i) Queen’s Birthday and Labour Day.
(ii) Easter weekend, from Thursday to the following Tuesday inclusive.
(iii) Over the Christmas and New Year holiday period.
(iv) Other public holidays.
The department reserves the right to decline any application for tickets under the provisions of this section.
(b) Tickets issued under the provisions of this section must be purchased not later than 30 minutes before the departure time of the train by which such tickets are to be used.
(c) In the case of the concessions referred to in paragraphs 2, 4, and 7 hereof, written applications specifying the dates between which journeys will be made, and the name of the person who will sign certificates on behalf of the controlling body should be made to the General Manager not less than 2 months before the date of commencement of the gathering referred to. Certificates signed by other than the person named in such application will not be recognised.

Navy League Sea Cadets.
Red Cross Cadets.
Red Cross Link Cadets.
St. John Ambulance Brigade Cadets
(b) Lone Scouts in uniform travelling to Scout camps | 6
