Alteration of Boundaries: Vincent County and Cromwell Borough
DENIS BLUNDELL, Governor-General ORDER IN COUNCIL
At the Government House at Wellington this 27th day of September 1976
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL PURSUANT to the Local Government Act 1974, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.
ORDER
- This order shall come into force on 1 October 1976. 2. The boundaries of Vincent County and Cromwell Borough shall be altered by excluding from the district of Vincent County and including in the district of Cromwell Borough the area, described in the Schedule to this order.
SCHEDULE
ALL that area in the Otago Land District, containing 419 hectares, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at the westernmost corner of Lot 2, D.P. 8910 on the south-eastern side of State Highway No. 6, and proceeding north-easterly along the south-eastern side of that highway and its production to a point in line with the north-western boundary of part Section 30, Block III, Cromwell Survey District; thence north-easterly to and along the north-western boundary of that section and the south-eastern side of the said State Highway No. 6 to the north-eastern side of an unnamed road forming the northern boundaries of Lots 19, 20, and 21, D.P. 2970; thence south-easterly along the north-eastern side of that road to the westernmost corner of part Section 15; thence north-easterly along the north-western boundary of that section and Section 90 to the western side of an unnamed road; thence generally north-easterly along the generally north-western side of that road to the southern side of Crown land (Map Tail Race Reserve); thence easterly along the southern side of that Crown land to the western boundary of the land shown on D.P. 1090; thence generally southerly along the generally western boundary of that land to the southernmost corner of the said land; thence due east to the right bank of the Clutha River; thence generally south-easterly along the right bank of the Clutha River to the north-east boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 15076; thence north-westerly along the north-eastern boundary of Block 92, Town of Cromwell, to its northernmost point; thence south-westerly along the north-western boundaries of the said Block 92, Section 10, Block I, Cromwell Survey District, and again Block 92, to the westernmost corner of the said block; thence south-easterly along the south-western boundary of Block 92 to the left bank of the Kawarau River; thence generally south-westerly along the left bank of that river to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Section 3, Block I, Cromwell Survey District; thence north-westerly to and along the south-western boundary of the said Section 3 to the westernmost corner of that section; thence north-easterly and north-westerly along the south-eastern and north-eastern boundaries of Lot 6, D.P. 15265 to the northernmost corner of that lot; thence north-westerly along a right line to the easternmost corner of Lot 5, D.P. 15265; thence north-westerly along the north-eastern boundary of that lot to the northernmost corner of the said Lot 5; thence north-westerly along a right line to the south-western corner of Lot 7, D.P. 8910, on the north-western side of Cemetery Road; thence generally northerly along the generally western boundary of the said Lot 7 to the north-western corner of that lot; thence north-easterly along the south-eastern boundary of Lot 3, D.P. 8910, to the southernmost corner of Lot 2, D.P. 8910; thence north-westerly along the south-western boundary of the said Lot 2 to the point of commencement.

Officers of Government of Ross Dependency Appointed
DENIS BLUNDELL, Governor-General
WHEREAS, by the Order in Council dated the 30th day of July 1923*, made under the British Settlements Act 1887 of the United Kingdom Parliament, the Governor-General and Commander-in-Chief of New Zealand for the time being (therein and hereinafter called the Governor) was appointed to be the Governor of the Ross Dependency, and all the powers and authorities which by the said order were given and granted to the Governor for the time being of the Dependency were thereby vested in him:
And whereas the Governor was thereby further authorised and empowered to make all such rules and regulations as might lawfully be made by Her Majesty's authority for the peace, order, and good government of the Dependency;
And whereas, by regulations made by the Governor on the 14th day of November 1923β , it was enacted that all persons appointed by the Governor for the time being of the Dependency should have such power and authority as might be granted them in due course of law, and might be empowered to do such things as might be necessary or desirable to ensure that the laws in force in the Dependency are duly observed and complied with in every respect, and to do all things necessary or expedient for the peace, order, and good government of the Dependency, and to safeguard and preserve Her Majesty's rights and sovereignty over and in respect of the Dependency:
And whereas it is expedient that the persons hereinafter named be appointed officers of the Government of the Dependency:
Now, therefore, I, Sir Edward Denis Blundell, the Governor-General of New Zealand, and as such the Governor of the Ross Dependency, hereby appoint
Kevin Arthur Tasker, Esquire as an officer of the Government of the Dependency, with effect from the 1st day of October 1976 until noon on the 20th day of February 1977:
And I also hereby appoint
James Sidney Rankin, Esquire as an officer of the Government of the Dependency with effect from noon on the 20th day of February 1977 and thereafter during pleasure:
And I hereby confer on them while they respectively hold office all the powers and authorities which may be exercised in New Zealand by a Justice of the Peace, and also the powers and authorities which may be so exercised by a Coroner:
And I also hereby appoint
Ian Dellow Johnstone, Esquire as an officer of the Government of the Dependency with effect from the 1st day of October 1976 and thereafter during pleasure; and I hereby confer on him all the powers and authorities which may be exercised in New Zealand by a Postmaster:
The said Kevin Arthur Tasker, James Sidney Rankin, and Ian Dellow Johnstone to exercise their functions at such places within the Dependency as may be directed by the officer for the time being appointed as an officer of the Government of the Dependency in whom is vested the general executive and administrative authority in preserving Her Majesty's rights and sovereignty and the laws and regulations in force in the Dependency.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, as the Governor of the Ross Dependency, this 20th day of September 1976.
