Game That May be Hunted or Killed

California and brown quail and cock pheasant
Hen pheasant (only in that part of the Wellington Acclimatisation District east and south of a line commencing at the start of the divide of the Tararua Range at the Manawatu Gorge on the Society's northern boundary, then along the Tararua Range to the summit of the Rimutaka Range and thence along the main Featherston-Hutt Road to Mangaroa, thence south along the Hutt River to its confluence with the Whakatiki River, thence west along the Whakatiki River to Wainui Hill (2367'); thence along the Wainui Stream to Paekakariki)

Grey duck, 15.
Shoveler (or spoonbill), 15.
Mallard duck, 15.
Paradise duck, 3.

Shooting hours: 6.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m.

Decoy limit: No limit.

Special Conditions

  1. Persons holding valid game shooting licences for the Westland Acclimatisation District may, without taking out a further game licence, shoot in that portion of the Southern Lakes Acclimatisation District included in the Westland Land District. The conditions prescribed in this notification in respect of the Southern Lakes Acclimatisation District shall apply in this area.
  2. No person shall, on the waters of Lake Mahinapua, for the purpose of hunting or killing game, use any fixed stand, pontoon, hide, maimai, or loo, except within 45 metres from the margin of the lake waters.

Whangarei Acclimatisation District

Special Conditions

  1. A licence issued pursuant to this notification to hunt or kill game shall entitle the holder thereof to hunt or kill game in the Bay of Islands, Hobson, and Mangonui-Whangaroa Acclimatisation Districts, during the period and subject, mutatis mutandis, to the conditions prescribed in this notification fixing an open season for game in those districts.

CLOSED GAME AREAS

Ashburton Acclimatisation District

(1) Rangitata River Lagoon, Wakanui.
(2) Ashburton County Council Reserve No. 1439, corner Wheatstone Road and Grahams Road.
(3) All that land in the Canterbury Land District intersected by the Wakanui Creek, being Rural Sections 15104, 15510, 17411, and 16673, the property of Mr R. F. Leadly.
(4) The property of Messrs Ross Bros., Westerfield, being R.S. 28890, 28999, 29000, 29189, Blocks VI and X, Westerfield.
(5) The property of Mr and Mrs R. Gregory, being Lot 2, D.P. 11497, R.S. 23979, 25005, 25298, and part R.S. 14618, and 19418, Lot 3, D.P. 11497, R.S. 25299, 26714, and 35991, Block II, Westerfield Survey District.
(6) The property of Mr A. Amos, Wakanui, being part R.S. 17152, Blocks II and VI, Wakanui.
(7) The property of Mr J. J. A. Studholme, R.S. 2582, Block I, Lots 1 and 4, Coldstream S.D., D.P. 8841.

Auckland Acclimatisation District

(1) Little Rotongaro Lake near Huntly.
(2) All that area from an imaginary line across the Waikato River between Weti Clark's Point on the Port Waikato side and Hill's Drain on the Otaua side to the Waikato Heads; and a strip of land 1 chain wide on both banks of such portion of the said river.
(3) Lot 1 of Sections 6, 22, and 78, Hunua Parish, containing 188 acres, the property of W. H. Mackey.
(4) Sections 4 and 18, Block XVI, Piako S.D., containing 477 acres, the property of J. B. Woodyard.
(5) Section No. XV, Pirongia Parish, containing 526 acres, the property of E. R. Mackenzie.
