THE following announcement has been made by the office of
the British Prime Minister:
Appointments to the Privy Council
"The Queen has been graciously pleased to approve that:
The Honourable Wallace Edward Rowling, M.P., Prime
Minister of New Zealand,
The Honourable Hugh Watt, M.P., Minister of Works and
Development and formerly Deputy Prime Minister of New
Zealand,
The Honourable Mr Justice Woodhouse, D.S.C., Judge of
the New Zealand Court of Appeal,
be appointed Members of Her Majesty's Most Honourable
Privy Council.

His Excellency the Governor-General has announced that
the Queen has been graciously pleased to confer the following
honours:
To be a Knight Grand Cross of the Civil Division of the Most
Excellent Order of the British Empire (G.B.E.):
The Right Honourable John Ross Marshall, C.H., Member
of Parliament since 1946; Minister of the Crown 1949-
57 and 1960-72; Deputy Prime Minister 1960-72; Prime
Minister 1972; Leader of the Opposition 1972-74.
To be Knights Bachelor:
The Honourable Mr Justice Ian Hannay Macarthur, puisne
Judge of the Supreme Court.
The Honourable Mr Justice Arthur Owen Woodhouse,
D.S.C., Judge of the Court of Appeal.

Award for Gallantry
HIS EXCELLENCY the Governor-General has announced that
the Queen has been pleased to approve the posthumous award
of the George Cross to Sergeant Murray Ken Hudson of the
Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment (Regular Force), who
lost his life in a grenade accident at Waiouru on 13 February
1974. With great courage and utter selflessness Sergeant
Hudson attempted to remove an armed grenade from a soldier
under training, in an attempt to save the soldier's life. Both
lost their lives in the accident.
