HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to the Agricultural Pests Destruction Act 1967, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.


ORDER

  1. This order may be cited as the Selwyn Pest Destruction District Order 1974.

  2. The boundaries of the Selwyn Pest Destruction District, which was constituted by Order in Council on the 22nd day of April 1974*, are hereby redefined and, as from the commencement of this order, the boundaries of the said district shall be those specified in the Schedule hereto.


SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF THE SELWYN PEST DESTRUCTION DISTRICT

ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, Ashburton, Ellesmere, and Malvern Counties containing 560,225 hectares (1,384,370 acres), more or less, bounded by a line commencing at Whitcombe Pass on the summit of the Main Divide in Block II, Ramsay Survey District and proceeding north-easterly generally along that summit to the summit of the Dampier Range in Block II, Minchin Survey District; thence south-easterly and south-westerly generally along the summits of the Dampier and the Puketeraki Ranges to Trig. Station S (Black Hill) in Block IX, Upper Ashley Survey District; thence due west to the middle of the Waimakariri River; thence southerly generally down the middle of that river to the confluence of the Waimakariri and Kowai Rivers in Block VIII, Kowai Survey District; thence south-westerly up the middle of the Kowai River to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Reserve 461; thence south-easterly generally to and along that boundary to a point in line with the middle of that portion of Keens Road forming the southern boundary of Rural Section 4649; thence westerly to and along the middle of that portion of road and south-westerly generally along the middle of Keens Road and Coxs Road to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary of Rural Section 18979 in Block XII, Kowai Survey District; thence south-easterly along a right line to the north-eastern corner of Rural Section 13715 and continuing south-easterly along another right line to the intersection of the eastern boundary of Rural Section 15714 and the north-western side of Barrs Road in Block XVI, Kowai Survey District; thence southerly to and along the western boundary of Rural Section 3719 to its south-western corner; thence south-westerly along a right line to the north-eastern corner of Rural Section 10759 and continuing south-westerly along another right line to the northernmost corner of Lot 1, D.P. 3973, in Block III, Hororata Survey District; thence south-westerly along the north-western boundary of that lot for a distance of 402 metres (20 chains); thence due west to the middle of the Selwyn River; thence south-easterly generally down the middle of that river to the north-eastern shore of Lake Ellesmere in Block XVI, Leeston Survey District; thence south-easterly generally along that shore to the middle of the abutment of the road along the left bank of the

Halswell River in Block II, Ellesmere Survey District; thence south-westerly along a right line to a point on the southern shore of Lake Ellesmere due south of the easternmost point of Lot 4, D.P. 14196 in Block VII, Southbridge Survey District; thence due south to the mean high-water mark of the sea; thence south-westerly along that mean high-water mark to the middle of the main stream of the Rakaia River between Great Island and Burnt, Tent, and Paradise Islands in Block VI, Hurst Survey District; thence north-westerly up the middle of that main stream and the middle of the Rakaia River to the confluence of that river and Louper Stream in Block IV, Ramsay Survey District; thence north-easterly up the middle of that stream to the point of commencement.

PURSUANT to section 59 of the Defence Act 1971, the Minister of Defence hereby approves the following appointments, promotions, extensions, relinquishments, cancellations, transfers, and resignations of the New Zealand Cadet Forces.

SEA CADET CORPS

Appointment

Lieutenant Grant Gilmore Howard is appointed Unit Commander of TS LEANDER with effect from 15 June 1974.

Promotions

Temporary Lieutenant Commander C. P. Medland to be Lieutenant Commander with effect from 4 June 1974.

Lieutenant G. G. Howard to be Lieutenant Commander with effect from 15 June 1974.

AIR TRAINING CORPS

Appointments

Thomas Alexander Henderson is appointed to a commission in the rank of Flying Officer for a period of 4 years with effect from 27 May 1974.

Carl Ian Noel Thompson is appointed to a commission in the rank of Pilot Officer for a period of 4 years with effect from 29 May 1974.

John Renton Harrison is appointed to a commission in the rank of Pilot Officer for a period of 4 years with effect from 4 June 1974.

Robert Murdoch McKenzie is appointed to a commission in the rank of Pilot Officer for a period of 4 years with effect from 10 June 1974.

Promotion

Pilot Officer E. W. Peters to be Flying Officer with effect from 1 June 1974.

Transfers

Pilot Officer D. R. Goodwin is transferred from No. 19 ATC Squadron to No. 1 ATC Squadron with effect from 7 September 1973.

Pilot Officer N. A. Calder is transferred from No. 18 ATC Squadron to No. 24 ATC Squadron with effect from 1 May 1974.

Resignation

Flying Officer Roy McKone resigns his commission with effect from 1 April 1974.

Terminations

The appointment of Flight Lieutenant Andrew Gordon Herbert is terminated with effect from 15 October 1973.

The appointment of Pilot Officer David Clifford Newland is terminated with effect from 1 January 1974.

SCHOOL CADET CORPS

Appointments

Second Lieutenant Andrew John Colinge Campbell is appointed Unit Commander of Tauranga Boys High School Cadet Unit with effect from 14 March 1974.

Brendon Joseph O’Neill is appointed to a commission in the rank of Second Lieutenant with effect from 28 May 1974.

Harold Christopher Buckland is appointed to a commission in the rank of Second Lieutenant with effect from 31 May 1974.

Ronald Baldwin is appointed to a commission in the rank of Second Lieutenant with effect from 31 May 1974.
