ORDER
-
(1) This order may be cited as the Union of Wanganui, Patea-Waitotara and Hunterville Pest Destruction Districts Order 1974.
(2) This order shall come into force on the 1st day of April 1974. -
The boundaries of the Wanganui Pest Destruction District (which was constituted by Order in Council on the 21st day of March 1956*), the Patea-Waitotara Pest Destruction District (which was constituted by Order in Council on the 21st day of May 1923†), and the Hunterville Pest Destruction District (which was constituted by Order in Council on the 8th day of December 1924‡), are hereby declared united to form one district to be called the Western Pest Destruction District, the boundaries of which shall be those specified in the Schedule hereto.

The basis on which the Board for the said District shall first levy its general rate shall be the acreage of the land occupied by the ratepayer.
SCHEDULE
BOUNDARIES OF WESTERN PEST DESTRUCTION DISTRICT
The boundaries of the Western Pest Destruction District shall be that area of land contained in the following districts:
Wanganui Pest Destruction District Order, Gazette, 1961, p. 987.
Patea-Waitotara Pest Destruction District Order, Gazette, 1923, p. 1542.
Hunterville Pest Destruction District Order, Gazette, 1961, p. 1301.

PURSUANT to the Agricultural Pests Destruction Act 1967, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.
ORDER

(1) This order may be cited as the Union of Manawatu and Rangitoto Pest Destruction Districts Order 1974.
(2) This order shall come into force on the 1st day of April 1974. -
The boundaries of the Manawatu Pest Destruction District (which was constituted by Order in Council on the 7th day of November 1923*) and the Rangitoto Pest Destruction District (which was constituted by Order in Council on the 8th day of May 1922†), are hereby declared united to form one district to be called the Manawatu Pest Destruction District, the boundaries of which shall be those specified in the Schedule hereto.

PURSUANT to section 35 of the Defence Act 1971, His Excellency the Governor-General has approved the following appointments. promotions, extensions, transfers, resignations, and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Army:
REGULAR FORCE
CHIEF OF GENERAL STAFF
Brigadier R. H. F. Holloway, O.B.E., Brigadiers' List, is appointed Chief of General Staff, Defence Headquarters, vice Major-General L. A. Pearce, C.B., C.B.E., in the rank of Major-General, and is transferred to the Generals' List with effect from 1 October 1973.
ROYAL REGIMENT OF N.Z. ARTILLERY
Major G. M. Connor is re-engaged until 29 April 1976.
Major J. M. Masters, M.C., A.N.Z.I.M., to be acting Lieutenant-Colonel with effect from 12 November 1973 and temp. Lieutenant-Colonel with effect from 19 November 1973.
ROYAL N.Z. INFANTRY REGIMENT
Major J. R. M. Barker, M.B.E., is transferred to the Supernumerary List on reaching retiring age for rank, with effect from 17 March 1973.
Major Francis Huia Woods is posted to the Retired List with effect from 30 January 1974.
Major Michael John Goulden is transferred from the Territorial Force, in the rank of Major, with seniority from 12 December 1970 and effect from 4 February 1974, on his appointment as a Military Observer, UNTSO, (Palestine).
Captain and Quartermaster V. W. Boyens is transferred to the Supernumerary List on reaching retiring age for rank, with effect from 11 January 1973.
X35418 Warrant Officer Class I Richard Alexander Scadden, Royal N.Z. Infantry Regiment, is appointed to a commission in the rank of Lieutenant and Quartermaster, with seniority and effect from 25 December 1973, and is re-engaged until retiring age for rank.
ROYAL N.Z. ARMY SERVICE CORPS
Lieutenant-Colonel R. R. Harding to temp. Colonel with effect from 18 December 1973.
ROYAL N.Z. ARMY MEDICAL CORPS
Wayne Richard Frederick Smallman, M.B., CH.B., is appointed to a commission on a Special Medical Engagement for 4½ years, in the rank of Captain with seniority and effect from 7 January 1974.
ROYAL N.Z. ARMY ORDNANCE CORPS
Captain (temp. Major) Michael Dawney Hunt, A.N.Z.I.M., is posted to the Retired List in the rank of Major with effect from 15 February 1974.
THE CORPS OF ROYAL N.Z. ELECTRICAL AND MECHANICAL ENGINEERS
Lieutenant Roger James Ternent is posted to the Retired List with effect from 5 January 1974.
ROYAL N.Z. DENTAL CORPS
Major I. G. Tillson, B.D.S., is transferred to the Supernumerary List, and his engagement is extended until 12 January 1979.
Richard John Clark, B.D.S., is appointed to a commission on a Special Dental Engagement until 10 January 1976, in the rank of Lieutenant, with seniority from 5 December 1973 and effect from 11 January 1974.
Robert David Gibbs, B.D.S., is appointed to a commission on a Special Dental Engagement until 10 July 1978, in the rank of Lieutenant, with seniority from 5 December 1973 and effect from 11 January 1974.
Peter Bardsley Hawker, B.D.S., is appointed to a short-service commission of two years in the rank of Lieutenant with seniority from 5 December 1973 and effect from 11 January 1974.
Simon Anthony John Holdgate, B.D.S., is appointed to a commission on a Special Dental Engagement until 10 July 1978, in the rank of Lieutenant, with seniority from 5 December 1973 and effect from 11 January 1974.

Chaplain 3rd Class John Ellis Carde (Roman Catholic) is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, General List, Royal N.Z. Chaplains’ Department, with effect from 1 February 1974.
