Tariff and Development Board Notice No. 397—Inquiry
Concerning Protection for New Zealand Industry Producing
Continuous Filament Polyester Yarn—Deferment of Public
Hearing

The public hearing advertised in Notice No. 381, in
the New Zealand Gazette of 1 November 1973, has been
postponed and will now take place on Tuesday, 19 November -
The venue will be as in Notice No. 381 (the Hearing
Room, Eighth Floor, Cumberland House, Upper Willis Street,
Wellington) and the hearing will commence at 10.30 a.m. -
The closing date for the receipt of representations,
prepared in accordance with Notice No. 381, will be Monday,
21 October 1974.

Amendment to Branding and Identification of Preservative
Treated Timber Notice
PURSUANT to regulation 12 of the Timber Preservation
Regulations 1955*, the Timber Preservation Authority hereby
gives notice that the Branding and Identification of
Preservative Treated Timber Notice, as published in the
Gazette of 18 August 1972, and amended by an amendment
as published in the Gazette of 2 August 1973, is
further amended by revoking paragraph (b) of subclause (2)
of clause 4 and substituting the following paragraphs:
“(b) All scantlings and framing timbers which are dressed
or planer-gauged on less than four surfaces shall either be
face-branded in accordance with paragraph (a) of this sub-
clause or be end-branded in accordance with clause 1 hereof.
“(c) All scantlings and framing timbers which are dressed
or planer-gauged prior to treatment on premises other than
the treatment plant shall not be face-branded prior to treat-
ment but shall be end-branded at the treatment plant in
accordance with clause 1 hereof.”
Clause 4 is further amended by inserting the following
additional paragraph:
“(6) Continuous brands must repeat at not more than
24 inch centres.”
The provisions of this notice shall come into force on
the day after the date of its publication in the Gazette.

Tariff and Development Board Notice No. 398—Inquiry
Concerning Protection for New Zealand Industry Producing
Adhesives, Sealants, etc., of Ex Tariff Heading 25.20, Tariff
Heading 32.12, Ex Tariff Headings 35.01 and 35.03, Tariff
Headings 35.05 and 35.06—Extension of Terms of Reference
to Include Tariff Item 38.12.006

In a letter dated 27 February 1974, the Minister of
Customs informed the Board, inter alia, that Government
had accepted the Board’s recommendation in its Report
No. 232 that the goods of Tariff heading 38.12, containing
not less than 25 percent by weight of starchy substances,
be reviewed when consideration is being given to the
protective requirements of the goods of Tariff heading 35.05.
Accordingly, the Minister requested the Board to include
prepared glazings, prepared dressings, and prepared mordants
containing not less than 25 percent weight of starchy sub-
stances of new Tariff item 38.12.006 in the terms of reference
of its inquiry for which notification was given in Tariff
and Development Board Notice No. 379 published in the
New Zealand Gazette of 1 November 1973. -
The purpose of this notice is to inform interested parties
that the terms of reference of the above-mentioned inquiry
and the public hearing which will be held on Tuesday,
2 April 1974, at 10.30 a.m., in the Hearing Room, Eighth
Floor, Cumberland House, Upper Willis Street, Wellington,
have been extended to include the goods of the new Tariff
item 38.12.006.

New Zealand standard specification is being circulated:

at 50c a copy from the same address.
NOTE—Each part is issued separately. Requests should
specify the part or parts required.
The closing date for the receipt of comment is 1 June 1974.
