The Motor Launch (Wharekaho (Simpsons) Beach, Mercury
Bay) Notice 1974—Coromandel County Council

PURSUANT to the Motor Launch Regulations 1962*, the
Minister of Transport hereby gives the following notice.

NOTICE

  1. (a) This notice may be cited as the Motor Launch
    (Wharekaho (Simpsons) Beach, Mercury Bay) Notice 1974.
    (b) This notice shall come into force on the date of its
    publication in the Gazette, and shall remain in force until
    further notice.

  2. Subject to the conditions set forth in the Second Schedule
    hereto, regulations 11 and 12 of the Motor Launch Regulations 1962 shall not apply with respect to the area described
    in the First Schedule hereto.

FIRST SCHEDULE

ALL that area of water at Wharekaho Beach (commonly
known as Simpsons Beach) Mercury Bay, within 200 yd
of the edge of the water and bounded on the sides by
parallel lines 100 yd apart and 50 yd on either side of a
centre line being extended in a 143° true direction from
the easternmost corner point of Lot 1, D.P. S. 5198, part
Kuaotuna 6A/6B/2, Block VIII, Otama S.D.

SECOND SCHEDULE

THE access lane shall be marked as follows:

  1. Two 8 ft transit posts with a distance of not less than
    10 ft for more than 20 ft between and painted with 12 in.
    bright orange and black bands shall be erected on land
    in line with each side of the access lane, the first post
    being sited on high-water mark.

  2. On each side of the transit posts sited on the high-water
    mark there shall be fastened in line with the sides of the
    access lane a notice board measuring not less than 2 ft
    6 in. by 2 ft painted bright orange, with black lettering in the
    following form:

“NOTICE

MOTOR LAUNCH REGULATIONS 1962

Access lane through which motor launches
and water skiers may pass at speeds greater
than 5 miles per hour.

BATHERS KEEP OUT”

  1. Marker buoys, either barrel, drum, or spherical shaped,
    painted bright orange with a vertical black stripe, shall be
    moored 50 yd apart and in line with each set of transit
    posts, the first buoy being 50 yd from the water’s edge.

The Traffic (Thames County) Notice No. 2, 1974

PURSUANT to the Transport Act 1962, the Minister of Transport hereby gives the following notice.

NOTICE

  1. This notice may be cited as the Traffic (Thames County)
    Notice No. 2, 1974.

  2. The roads specified in the First Schedule hereto are
    hereby declared to be closely populated localities for the
    purposes of section 52 of the Transport Act 1962, to the
    intent that a person driving any motor vehicle thereon at
    any time during the period commencing with the Thursday
    preceding Labour Day in each year and ending with the
    Tuesday following Easter in the next ensuing year shall
    be subject to the maximum speed limit of 30 miles an hour
    fixed by the said section.

  3. The roads specified in the Second Schedule hereto are
    hereby declared to be 40-miles-an-hour speed limit areas for
    the purposes of regulation 27A of the Traffic Regulations 1956* to the intent that a person driving any motor vehicle
    thereon during the period commencing with the Wednesday
    following Easter in each year and ending with the Wednesday
    preceding Labour Day in the same year shall be subject to
    the speed limitation fixed by the said regulation.

  4. The road specified in the Third Schedule hereto is hereby
    declared to be a 40-miles-an-hour speed limit area for the
    purposes of regulation 27A of the Traffic Regulations 1956*.

  5. The Traffic (Thames County) Notice No. 1, 1970, dated
    the 21st day of July 1970† under regulation 27A of the Traffic
    Regulations 1956*, which relates to roads situated within
    Thames County at Tairua, is hereby revoked.

FIRST SCHEDULE

SITUATED within Thames County at Tairua:

No. 25 State Highway (Pipiroa-Waihi via Coromandel):
from a point 95 metres measured northerly generally along
the said State Highway from Daphne Road to a point
480 metres measured southerly generally along the said State
Highway from Wharf Road.

Manaia Road: from No. 25 State Highway (Pipiroa-Waihi
via Coromandel) to a point 860 metres measured easterly
generally along the said road from the said State Highway.

SECOND SCHEDULE

SITUATED within Thames County at Tairua:

No. 25 State Highway (Pipiroa-Waihi via Coromandel):
from a point 95 metres measured northerly generally along
the said State Highway from Daphne Road to a point
480 metres measured southerly generally along the said State
Highway from Wharf Road.

Manaia Road: from No. 25 State Highway (Pipiroa-Waihi
via Coromandel) to a point 860 metres measured easterly
generally along the said road from the said State Highway.

THIRD SCHEDULE

SITUATED within Thames county at Tairua:

No. 25 State Highway (Pipiroa-Waihi via Coromandel):
from a point 160 metres measured southerly generally along
the said State Highway from Ocean Beach Road to a point
95 metres measured northerly generally along the said State
Highway from Daphne Road.
