ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, City of
Christchurch, bounded by a line commencing at a point
on the northern boundary of the City of Christchurch, as
described aforesaid, in the middle of Briggs Road and in
line with the north-eastern boundary of Lot 5, D.P. 17825,
and proceeding due south to the middle of Quinns Road;
thence southerly generally along the middle of that road
and its production to the middle of Shirley Road; thence
easterly along the middle of that road and its production
to a point in line with the middle of North Parade; thence
southerly to and along the middle of that parade to a
point in line with the middle of Banks Avenue; thence
south-easterly to and along the middle of that avenue and
its production to a point in line with the middle of
McBratneys Road; thence due south to the middle of the
Avon River; thence south-easterly generally down the middle
of that river to a point in line with the middle of Kerrs
Road; thence southerly along the production of the middle
of that road to the middle of Avonside Drive; thence north-
easterly along the middle of that drive to and along the
middle of Wainoni Road to a point in line with the middle
of Shortland Street; thence south-easterly to and along the
middle of that street to the middle of Pages Road; thence
south-westerly along the middle of that road to and along
the middle of Rudds Road to and along the middle of
Kerrs Road to and along the middle of Buckleys Road
and its production to the middle of Linwood Avenue; thence
north-westerly along the middle of that avenue to the middle
of Worcester Street; thence westerly along the middle of
that street to the middle of Tancred Street; thence north-
easterly generally along the middle of that street and its
production to the middle of Woodham Road; thence westerly
along the middle of that road and its production to the
middle of the Avon River; thence westerly generally up
the middle of that river to the middle of Colombo Street
being a point on the eastern boundary of the West Ward,
hereinbefore described; thence northerly along that boundary
to the northern boundary of the City of Christchurch as
described aforesaid; thence easterly generally along that
boundary to the point of commencement.
AVON WARD
ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, City of
Christchurch, bounded by a line commencing at a point
on the eastern boundary of the City of Christchurch, as
described aforesaid, on the mean high-water mark of the
sea in line with the north-eastern boundary of the land
in C.T. 430/216 and proceeding north-westerly generally
along the mean high-water mark of the sea and of the
Estuary of the Avon and Heathcote Rivers to the northern
side of Beachville Road; thence westerly generally along
the northern side of that road and Main Road to a point
in line with the middle of Linwood Avenue; thence north-
westerly to and along the middle of that avenue to the
middle of Dyers Road; thence north-easterly along the middle
of that road to a point in line with the middle of Maces
Road; thence northerly generally to and along the middle
of that road and its production to the middle of Ruru
Road; thence westerly along the middle of that road to
a point in line with the middle of Cypress Street; thence
northerly to and along the middle of that street and its
production to the middle of Rudds Road; thence easterly
and northerly along the middle of that road and Kearneys
Road and its production to the middle of Pages Road,
being a point on the eastern boundary of the North Ward
hereinbefore described; thence north-westerly generally along
that boundary to the northern boundary of the City of
Christchurch, as described aforesaid; thence easterly and
southerly along the northern and eastern boundaries of that
city to the point of commencement.
EAST WARD
ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, City of
Christchurch, bounded by a line commencing at a point
on the southern boundary of the City of Christchurch, as
described aforesaid, in the middle of the Heathcote River
in line with the north-eastern side of Burnbrae Street and
proceeding north-easterly down the middle of that river to
a point in line with the middle of the northern section
of Wilsons Road; thence north-easterly to and along the
middle of that road to the middle of the Christchurch-
Lyttelton Railway; thence north-westerly along the middle
of that railway to the middle of the overbridge at Waltham
Road; thence due north to the middle of Moorhouse
Avenue; thence easterly along the middle of that avenue
to a point in line with the middle of Fitzgerald Avenue;
thence northerly to and along the middle of that avenue
to the middle of St. Asaph Street; thence westerly along
the middle of that street to the middle of Madras Street;
thence northerly along the middle of that street and its
production to the middle of Hereford Street; thence easterly
along the middle of that street to a point in line with
the middle of Latimer Square; thence northerly to and
along the middle of that square and its production to the
middle of Gloucester Street; thence westerly along the
middle of that street to a point in line with the middle
of Madras Street; thence northerly to and along the middle
of that street to the middle of the Avon River being a
point on the southern boundary of the North Ward herein-
inbefore described; thence easterly generally along that
boundary to the western boundary of the Avon Ward herein-
inbefore described; thence south-easterly generally along that
boundary to the eastern boundary of the City of Christchurch
as described aforesaid; thence southerly and westerly along
the eastern and southern boundaries of that city to the
point of commencement.
SOUTH WARD
ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, City of
Christchurch, bounded by a line commencing at the inter-
section of the western boundary of the City of Christchurch,
as described aforesaid, and the southern boundary of the
West Ward, hereinbefore described, and proceeding easterly
generally along the southern boundary of that ward and
the southern boundary of the North Ward, hereinbefore
described to the western boundary of the East Ward, herein-
inbefore described; thence southerly generally along that
boundary to the southern boundary of the City of Christ-
church as described aforesaid; thence westerly and northerly
generally along the southern and western boundaries of that
city to the point of commencement.
“(b) Pursuant to the said Act such special order, made
where an undivided city is divided into wards
and so requiring a general election of councillors
shall come into force only at the next triennial
general election of the Council except insofar and
to such extent as may be necessary for that elec-
tion.”

Pursuant to section 24 (2), Municipal Corporations
Act 1954, I, Richard Arthur Innes, Chief Surveyor,
Canterbury Land District, hereby certify that the descrip-
tions of the five wards in the special order confirmed by
the Christchurch City Council on Monday, 19 February
1973, are sufficient to render the boundaries of each ward
capable of identification.

Municipal Corporations Act 1954, that the attached special
order was duly passed by the Christchurch City Council
at an ordinary meeting held on the 18th day of December
1972, which special order was subsequently confirmed at a

Amendment to Tariff and Development Board Notice
No. 323
In paragraph 2 of Tariff and Development Board Notice
No. 323 (New Zealand Gazette dated 7 December 1972)
reference is made, inter alia, to liquids, pastes, solutions,
and emulsions of Tariff Heading 39.05. This reference should
read 39.05 and Notice No. 323 is amended accordingly. The
Tariff provisions as set out in Schedule I to Notice No. 323
are correctly stated and do not require amendment.
