Full-time Assistants in Secondary Schools and Manual Training Centres as at 31 October 1972

The regulations relating to appeals of teachers against their classification, state that a teacher who is dissatisfied with his current classification when that classification appears for the first time in the general classification list and who is not debarred from classification in the immediately higher list may lodge an appeal with the Director-General of Education. Appeals are to be submitted no later than 14 May 1973, and are to contain an explicit statement of the grounds on which the appeal is based. Appeal forms are to be obtained from the Regional Superintendent of Education, Private Bag, Newmarket, Auckland; P.O. Box 8011, Wellington; or P.O. Box 2612, Christchurch.

NOTES—(1) In accordance with regulation 54 (1) of the Education (Assessment, Classification, and Appointment) Regulations 1965, the schools and teachers’ qualifications in the classification list show a teacher’s location and status as at 31 October 1972. Personal classifications are shown in the left hand column. Classification of each teacher is shown as list A, B, or C, A being the lowest.

(2) In the location column the following abbreviations are used: “Coll” for College, “GS” for Grammar School, “HS” for High School, “TC” for Technical College, “THS” for Technical High School, “EB” for Education Board, “MemTC” for Memorial Technical College, “(M)” for itinerant Music Specialist, “MTC” for Manual Training Centre or manual teacher, and “AHS” for Agricultural High School.

(3) The figures 1, 2, 3, and 4 show Posts of Responsibility held as at 31 October 1972. 5, Senior Assistant Mistress; 6, Senior Master or Mistress; 7, Deputy Principal; L, on leave; P, provisional classification.

N.B.—(4) Teachers are to notify their employing boards of errors. Inquiries are to be addressed to and appeals lodged with the appropriate Regional Superintendent of Education, Auckland, Wellington, or Christchurch.
