Revocation of Appointment to Control and Manage and Revocation of the Reservation Over Part of a Reserve

Pursuant to the Reserves and Domains Act 1953, the Minister of Lands hereby revokes the appointment of the South Canterbury Catchment Board to control and manage and revokes the reservation for soil conservation and river control purposes over the land described in the Schedule hereto.

CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT—ASHBURTON COUNTY
PART Reserve 5223, situated in Block XII, Westerfield Survey District: area, 2898 square metres, more or less. As shown on the plan marked L. and S. 15/244/6, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged red (S.O. Plan 10972).

Vesting a Reserve in the Christchurch City Council

Pursuant to the Reserves and Domains Act 1953, the Minister of Lands hereby vests the reserve described in the Schedule hereto in the Mayor, Councillors, and Citizens of the City of Christchurch, in trust, as an addition to the J. R. Godley Statue Reserve.

Consent to the Distribution of New Therapeutic Drug

Pursuant to section 12 of the Food and Drug Act 1969, the Minister of Health hereby consents to the distribution in New Zealand of the new therapeutic drug set out in the Schedule hereto.

The Southland Polytechnic Notice 1973

Pursuant to section 69 of the Education Act 1964, the Minister of Education hereby gives the following notice.

NOTICE

1. (1) This notice may be cited as the Southland Polytechnic Notice 1973.

(2) This notice shall come into force on the 1st day of February 1974.

2. There shall be a Board of Governors to be known as the Council of the Southland Polytechnic.

3. The Council of the Southland Polytechnic shall be constituted as follows:

(a) One member appointed by the Council of the University of Otago;

(b) One member appointed by the Southland Branch of the Society of Accountants;

(c) One member appointed jointly by the Southland Branch of the New Zealand Institute of Architects, and the Southland Branch of the New Zealand Institution of Engineers;

(d) One member elected by governing bodies of the schools specified in the Schedule to this notice;

(e) One member appointed by the Invercargill Chamber of Commerce;

(f) One member appointed jointly by the Invercargill City Council, the Southland County Council, and the Wallace County Council;

(g) One member who shall be a woman appointed by the Council itself;

(h) Two members elected by the associations of employees in local industries situated within the Land District of Southland;

(i) Two members elected by the associations of employers in local industries situated within the Land District of Southland;

(j) Up to three members co-opted by the Council itself, if and when it thinks fit and for such term or terms as it thinks fit.

4. (1) Subject to the provisions of this clause, the members of the Southland Polytechnic Board of Governors shall hold office for a term of 3 years, but may from time to time be reappointed or re-elected.

(2) Except in the case of a casual vacancy, every member shall hold office until the 31st day of May in the third year after the year of his appointment or election, and if on the 31st day of May the appointment or election of his successor has not been notified to the Board, he shall continue to hold office until the date on which the appointment or election is notified.

(3) If any member dies, or resigns his office by writing under his hand addressed to the Board or the chairman or the secretary thereof, or is absent without leave from the meetings of the Board for 3 consecutive months, or while holding office becomes for any reason ineligible to remain a member, the casual vacancy so created shall be filled as soon as practicable thereafter by the appointment or election of a member in the manner in which the vacating member was appointed or elected, and the member appointed or elected to fill the vacancy shall hold office for the residue of the term of office of the member whom he replaces.

(4) The powers of the Board shall not be affected by any vacancy in the membership thereof.

Reservation of Land and Vesting in the Whakatane County Council

Pursuant to the Land Act 1948, the Minister of Lands hereby sets apart the land described in the Schedule hereto as a reserve for plantation purposes and, further, pursuant to the Reserves and Domains Act 1953, vests the said Reserve in the Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants of the County of Whakatane, in trust, for that purpose.
