On the 11th a very deep depression was centred near Macquarie Island and the associated trough of low pressure moved on to the South Island with rain once again on the West Coast and light falls still in the west of the North Island. During the north-eastward passage of this trough a deep depression developed east of the South Island. Rain again became general on the 12th and 13th though rather light on the east coast of the South Island. Strong gales were reported in Canterbury and Wairarapa. On the following day light rain persisted over the North Island and on the West Coast with the passage of another trough. On the 15th and 16th pressures were high to the north of the North Island and over the South Tasman Sea. Yet another trough of low pressure brought fairly general rain during its northward passage over the country. As the anticyclone over the South Tasman Sea moved slowly north-eastward the weather improved during the next 2 days but some scattered light rain was still reported. However, from the 19th to the 21st the weather was fine as the anticyclone moved slowly across the North Island.

On the 22nd a depression was centred over the South Tasman Sea and on the following day it moved on to Southland. On these days rain affected the west and south of the South Island with some light falls also in the west of the North Island. It was at this time too that “Hurricane Bebe” devastated Funafuti in the Ellice Islands. Conditions remained somewhat similar during the next two days with north-westerlies over the South Island and another trough approaching. At this time “Hurricane Bebe” devastated Fiji. General rain was reported on the 26th with the passage of yet another trough of low pressure. However, fine weather prevailed during the next 3 days as an anticyclone moved from the Tasman Sea on to the North Island.

During the last 2 days of the month pressures remained high to the north while depressions passed far to the south, and westerlies prevailed, with considerable rain in the west and far south of the South Island.
