SCHEDULE B
Goods scheduled for this hearing include—
Conveyor and elevator belts and belting less than 54 inches in width, EXCEPT:

Food conveyor
These goods were determined to fall within Tariff item 40.10.001 following Government's acceptance of a report from the Emergency Protection Authority. In terms of the Authority’s recommendation the determined goods became dutiable at rates of BP 25%, Aul Free, MFN 45% and GEN 55% with effect from 11 August 1972. The Minister of Customs, in a letter dated 9 August 1972, asked the Board to take into consideration the temporary protection afforded the goods now determined under Tariff item 40.10.001 when it undertakes the inquiry arising from the earlier reference (refer paragraph 1 of this notice). Parties intending to make representations to the Board on any of the goods falling within the items of this Schedule should be guided accordingly.

Tariff and Development Board Notice No. 321—New Zealand - Australia Free Trade Agreement—Elimination of Margin—Tariff Item 82.13.009 Other Articles of Cutlery
- In an exchange of letters associated with the New Zealand - Australia Free Trade Agreement the New Zealand Government expressed the intention of eliminating the margins by which the rates of duty applicable to certain goods imported from Australia exceed those applicable to goods imported under the same Tariff item from other countries.
- The Minister of Overseas Trade has requested the Tariff and Development Board to make recommendations from time to time on the progressive implementation of this policy and in this regard the Board now intends to consider other articles of cutlery (excluding secateurs, butchers’ cleavers and choppers) classified in the Customs Tariff as follows:

Can - If no representations are received to the contrary the Board proposes to recommend that, in respect of these goods, the rate of duty applicable to imports from Australia be reduced to the level of the present British Preferential Tariff rate. Any person or firm desiring to make representations regarding the above-mentioned Tariff item should send to the under-named, not later than 1 February 1973, 14 copies of public evidence and 12 copies of any confidential evidence in the form in which it would be intended to submit under oath at a public hearing and in this connection the “Notes for Information and Guidance of Interested Parties” prepared by the Board may be of assistance. Copies of these notes may be obtained from the Board’s office.
- If public inquiries are found to be necessary in respect of this item notice to this effect will be given.
