Consenting to Raising of Loans by Certain Local Authorities

Pursuant to section 3 of the Local Authorities Loans Act 1956 (as amended by section 3 (1) of the Local Authorities Loans Amendment Act 1967), the undersigned Assistant Secretary to the Treasury, acting under powers delegated to the Secretary to the Treasury by the Minister of Finance, hereby consents to the borrowing by the local authorities mentioned in the Schedule hereto of the whole or any part of the respective amounts specified in that Schedule.

In the Matter of the Insurance Companies' Deposits Act 1953

PHOENIX ASSURANCE Co. LTD. has given notice to the Public Trustee that it has ceased to carry on business in New Zealand in respect of all classes of insurance business, and that it proposes to withdraw all deposits which have been made by it with the Public Trustee pursuant to section 3 of the abovementioned Act.

Note—The insurance business formerly carried on in New Zealand by Phoenix Assurance Co. Ltd. is now carried on by Phoenix Assurance Co. of New Zealand Ltd.

The Public Trustee therefore gives notice pursuant to section 19 (3) of the above-mentioned Act that, subject to his being satisfied that all of the liabilities of Phoenix Assurance Co. Ltd. in New Zealand in respect of all classes of insurance business have been fully liquidated or provided for, he proposes to release to Phoenix Assurance Co. Ltd., on or after 30 November 1972, the amounts deposited with him by Phoenix Assurance Co. Ltd.

Any objection to the release of the amounts deposited should be lodged with the Public Trustee at the Public Trust Office, Lambton Quay, Wellington 1, on or before 23 November 1972.
