EDUCATION BRANCH
Transfer to the Reserve
Squadron Leader Maurice Leslie Rendle, A.S.P.E., is transferred to the Reserve of Officers until 2 June 1976, with effect from 16 June 1972.

MEDICAL BRANCH
Extension of Commission
The short-service commission of Squadron Leader R. G. Grant, M.B., CH.B., is extended to 19 February 1975, followed by 4 years on the Reserve of Air Force Officers.

RESERVE OF AIR FORCE OFFICERS
Extension of Commissions
The commission of the Reverend (Flight Lieutenant) V. F. Robertson is extended until 18 September 1975.
The commission of Flight Lieutenant J. A. Easton, A.F.C., is extended until 16 June 1977.
The commission of Flying Officer (temp. Flight Lieutenant) E. P. Carr is extended until 26 January 1977.
The commission of Flying Officer P. F. O'Brien, A.C.A., F.I.I.N.Z., is extended until 31 July 1987.

Transfer
Flight Lieutenant K. R. Brooking is transferred from the Active Reserve to the General Reserve until 14 July 1977, with effect from 14 July 1972.

Retirements
Squadron Leader Rodney Irvine Armstrong is retired with effect from 20 August 1972.
Squadron Leader Maxwell George Stubbs is retired with effect from 25 August 1972.
Flight Lieutenant David Charles Gaskin is retired with effect from 30 April 1972.
Flying Officer Richard Edward Ralph Robertshawe, D.F.C., is retired with effect from 13 August 1972.

Appointment of a Committee of Inquiry Into a Second Airport in the Wellington Area

  1. Pursuant to section 14 of the Civil Aviation Act 1964, the Minister of Transport hereby appoints the following persons as a Committee of Inquiry to report to the Minister of Transport on a second airport in the Wellington area.
    Walter Gordon Morrison, Esq., o.b.e. (chairman).
    Captain Douglas Walter Grove Keesing (member).
    Terence Mortimer McKewen, Esq., o.b.e. (member).
    Peter Sidney Plummer, Esq. (member).
  2. The committee shall be called the Committee of Inquiry into a Second Airport in the Wellington Area.
  3. The chairman of the committee shall be Walter Gordon Morrison, Esq., o.b.e.
  4. The committee shall inquire into and report to the Minister of Transport on whether or not a second airport in the Wellington area is necessary.
  5. If the committee is of the opinion that a second airport in the Wellington area is necessary, then the committee shall further report on:
    (a) The most suitable site for the second airport, having proper regard to:
    (i) The need to accommodate trans-Tasman domestic and general aviation operations.
    (ii) The total cost of establishing the second airport.
    (iii) The effects on the area in which it is proposed that a second airport be developed.
    (iv) The convenience of the general public and other siting considerations.
    (v) Any other consideration which the committee considers necessary.
    (b) When such second airport will be required.
  6. The committee may further consider any other matters, which in its opinion are relevant to the inquiry.
  7. The committee is authorised to :
    (i) Hold public meetings at which evidence can be presented.
    (ii) Hold closed sessions at which evidence of a confidential nature can be heard.
    (iii) Request reports and other information from Government departments and other interested parties.
  8. All meetings and hearings of the committee shall be held at such times and places as the committee or the chairman from time to time appoints.

THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE

  1. At any such meeting or hearing the chairman and two members of the committee shall constitute a quorum.
  2. Subject to the provisions of this clause the committee may regulate its procedure in such manner as it thinks fit.

PURSUANT to the Motor Launch Regulations 1962*, the Minister of Transport hereby gives the following notice:

  1. (a) This notice may be cited as the Motor Launch (Ohuka (Brophy's) Beach) Notice 1972.
    (b) This notice shall come into force on the date of its publication in the Gazette.
  2. Subject to the conditions set forth in the Second Schedule hereto regulations 11 and 12 of the Motor Launch Regulations 1962 shall not apply with respect to the area described in the First Schedule hereto.
    FIRST SCHEDULE
    ALL that area of water at Ohuka (Brophy's) Beach, Whitianga, bounded on the sides by parallel lines 100 yds apart extending in a 155° direction 200 yds from the edge of the water, the westernmost boundary commencing at a point 5 chains from the easternmost extremity of the Tarapatiki Stream Bridge.
