NOTICE OF A PRIVATE BILL
IN the matter of the Standing Orders of the House of Representatives relating to Private Bills, and in the matter of a Private Bill intituled “St. Johns College Trusts Act”:

Notice is hereby given that it is intended to apply to the House of Representatives in Parliament assembled for leave to bring in a Bill intituled “St. Johns College Trusts Act”.

The objects of the Bill are:

(a) To enable St. Johns College to become a general theological college for the education of candidates for ordination in the principles of the Christian faith.

(b) To extend the ambit of the trusts of the College Funds and the Scholarship Funds and to consolidate and vary the trusts of those funds.

(c) To validate all payments or application of income from the Scholarship Funds made by the St. Johns College Trust Board as trustee of that fund for the general purposes of St. Johns College since the 17th day of November 1958.

(d) To amend the trust of the Widows and Orphans Endowment by permitting the trustees of that fund to hold the fund for and towards the support of retired Anglican clergy or Anglican clergy in need of financial assistance and for the support of widows and orphans of such deceased clergy and to pay the net available income of the fund to the New Zealand Anglican Church Pension Fund Board for these purposes. Further, at the direction of Synod, to enable ordained ministers of the proposed Church of Christ in New Zealand and their respective widows and orphans to qualify for like assistance.

(e) To extend the powers (including the powers of investment) of the trustee of the College Fund, the Scholarship Fund, and the Widows and Orphans Endowment, and to enable the submission of a scheme or schemes in respect of future variations of those powers or the mode of administration of the trusts to the Supreme Court of New Zealand for approval under the Charitable Trusts Act 1957.

The promoter of the Bill is Eric Austen Gowing, Bishop of the Diocese of Auckland. Notice is hereby given that it is intended to apply to the House of Representatives in Parliament assembled for leave to bring in a Bill intituled the “New Zealand Anglican Church Pension Fund Act 1972”. The objects of the Bill are to enable trustees of existing pension funds, if they should so desire, to amalgamate with other pension funds so that they be administered as one pension fund.

The promoters of the Bill are Allan Howard Johnston, Primate and Archbishop of the Anglican Church, and Wybrants Olphert, a member of the General Synod of the Anglican Church. Notice is hereby given that it is intended to apply to the House of Representatives in Parliament assembled for leave to bring in a Bill intituled “Anglican Trustees Investment (Auckland) Act 1972”.

The objects of the Bill are to enable the trustees of funds held upon trusts for special religious, educational, and other charitable purposes in connection with parishes and churches throughout the Auckland Diocese, if they should so desire, to amalgamate the funds with other like funds to enable investment of the funds on a wider basis and to extend the present powers of investment of the various trusts.

The promoters of the Bill are Howard Pellow Anderson and John Edwin Towle. NOTICE OF PRIVATE BILL
AN ACT TO AMEND THE PAPAWAI AND KAIKOKIRIKIRI TRUSTS ACT 1943

NOTICE is hereby given that the Papawai and Kaikokirikiri Trusts Board (hereinafter called “the Board”) intends to apply for leave to bring into the House of Representatives during the present session of Parliament a Private Bill, the short title of which is the “Papawai and Kaikokirikiri Trusts Amendment Act 1972”. The objects of the present Bill are to extend the powers of the Board to grant a lease of any farm land for a term not exceeding 7 years with, if the Board thinks fit, a right of renewal for one term of the same or any shorter period, and to include in such leases a condition to the effect that the lessee on the expiry of 6 months’ notice in writing from the Board shall surrender such part of the land in the lease as the Board may consider is usable for industrial or residential purposes, and that the rent for the balance of the land for the balance of the term shall be determined by valuation. The Bill is promoted by the Board whose address to which communications or notices may be sent is at the offices of Messrs Major, Gooding, Watson, and Hodson, Solicitors, 10 Park Street, Masterton. A copy of the proposed Bill may be inspected at the above-mentioned address.

DECLARATION OF RESULT OF POLL

Hawera Municipal Buildings Loan 1972 ($185,000)

PURSUANT to section 38 of the Local Authorities Loans Act 1956, notice is hereby given that a roll of ratepayers of the Borough of Hawera taken during 6 consecutive days from 31 July to 5 August 1972 on the proposal of the above-named local authority to raise a loan of $185,000, to be known as the Hawera Municipal Buildings Loan 1972, for the purpose of providing a municipal office building complete with furnishings and equipment, resulted as follows:

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 965
The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 679
The number of informal votes was 20

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.
