(c) The provisions of subsection (1) of section 20 of the Water and Soil Conservation Act 1967 shall be restricted to conform with the provisions of paragraphs (a) to (d) of this clause;

(d) Each territorial local authority having jurisdiction in the said area shall make by way of an annual contribution to the Rangitikei-Wanganui Catchment Board towards the administration costs incurred by the said Board in carrying out its functions under the Water and Soil Conservation Act 1967 such sum or rate as may from time to time be fixed by any Act or regulation in that behalf.

Unless and until any such sum or rate has been so fixed the amount to be so paid shall be such sum as may be agreed upon between the territorial local authority and the Rangitikei-Wanganui Catchment Board; and, in the event of the failure of the territorial local authority and the said Board to agree on any such sum, then such sum as may be determined by the National Water and Soil Conservation Authority. In addition, the Rangitikei-Wanganui Catchment Board may levy any of the said territorial local authorities having jurisdiction over the said area for the cost of any work undertaken or proposed to be undertaken in the district of that local authority for the purposes of the Water and Soil Conservation Act 1967 as hereinbefore restricted; and the cost of the work may be increased by a percentage to provide for administration and other expenses in respect of the work as more particularly described in subsection (2) of section 84 of the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Council Act 1941, which for this purpose shall be read as if the references in that subsection to that Act were references to the Water and Soil Conservation Act 1967, such percentage being from time to time determined by agreement between the said Board and the said local authority:

Provided that, where an agreement as referred to in the foregoing paragraphs (a) and (b) of this clause is entered into with any territorial local authority, the provisions of this paragraph shall cease to operate or shall be modified in respect of the district of that territorial local authority to ensure compliance with the terms of the agreement.

8. The provisions of section 36 of the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Act 1941 shall, with the necessary modifications, apply as if the constitution of the said district had been a union of districts under that section.

FIRST SCHEDULE

AREA CONSTITUTED THE RANGITIKEI-WANGANUI CATCHMENT DISTRICT

ALL that area in the Wellington, South Auckland, and Taranaki Land Districts comprising the City of Wanganui, the Boroughs of Marton, Taihape, Ohakune, Raetihi, and Taumarunui, the Town Districts of Hunterville, Manunui, and Ohura, the Counties of Wanganui and Waimarino, and parts of the Counties of Manawatu, Oroua, Kiwitea, Rangitikei, Hawke's Bay, Taupo, Waitotara, Stratford, Clifton, Taumarunui, Waitomo, and Otorohanga, containing 5,700 square miles, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at a point on the sea coast in line with the northern boundary of Lot 2, D.P. 24904, in Block IV, Sandy S.D., and proceeding generally easterly to and along that boundary and the northern boundary of Lot 2, D.P. 16819, and Lot 1, D.P. 12983, and the production of the last-mentioned boundary to the eastern side of Wylie Road, along that side to and along the northern boundaries of Sections 324, 325, 646, and again, Section 325, Town of Carnarvon, to the western side of No. 1 State Highway, along that side to a point in line with the northern boundary of Section 733, Town of Carnarvon, and to and along that boundary and the northern boundaries of Himatangi 1H1A and 1H2 to the south-western corner of Lot 1, D.P. 29717;
