NOTICE declaring a proposed irrigation district, defining its boundaries, and notifying the charges payable.

PURSUANT to sections 4 and 5 of the Public Works Amendment Act 1960, the Minister of Works hereby declares the area of land, the boundaries of which are defined in the First Schedule hereto, to be a proposed irrigation district to be known as “Maniototo Irrigation District”, and hereby notifies that:

  1. The proposed water quota for the land in the district, not exempted pursuant to section 13 of the said Act, shall be 27 inches.

  2. The irrigation charge which will be payable for half of the water quota shall be $2.60 per acre commanded by gravity supply points and $3.30 per acre commanded by pump supply points, reducible over the first 9 irrigation seasons of supply to the charges set out in the Second Schedule hereto.

  3. The respective charges which will be payable for such water as may be supplied in excess of half the proposed water quota shall be at the rate of $1.15 per acre-foot of water received from gravity supply points and $1.75 per acre-foot of water received from pump supply points.

  4. Supply of water is dependent on the flow of the Taieri River and no supply is possible when the flow of water in the Taieri River drops below 50 cusecs at the point where that river crosses the road between Patearoa and Paerau. No rebate of charges will accrue due to this circumstance.
