DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION—NEW ZEALAND

PURSUANT to section 133 of the Education Act 1964, the following Register of Teachers is hereby published.

The Register contains the names of primary teachers classified under the Education (Assessment, Classification, and Appointment) Regulations 1965 who were employed as teachers as at 31 July 1971 or who though not employed at that date have applied to have their names retained in the Register.

The Register gives the following information:

Column (1) Class of certification.
Column (2) Year of certification.
Column (3) Division.

Column (4) Position.
Column (5) District.

Abbreviations used are: A = Advanced Diploma in Teaching; B = Diploma in Teaching; C = Trained Teachers Certificate.

HT = head teacher or principal; ST = sole teacher; FA = first assistant; 2A = second assistant; 3A = third assistant; SJC = supervisor of junior classes; SAM = senior assistant master or mistress; A = assistant; DADV = district adviser; SADV = senior adviser; ADV = adviser; ARS = adviser rural schools; DO = district organiser; SO = senior organiser; AO = area organiser; AAO = assistant area organiser; LO = liaison organiser; O = organiser; OT = organising teacher; VT = visiting teacher; PS = psychologist; SPS = senior psychologist; APS = assistant psychologist; SSP = senior specialist; SP = specialist; DE = Director of Education (Islands); ADE = Assistant Director of Education (Islands); EO = education officer; VP = vice principal; SL = senior lecturer; L = lecturer; AL = assistant lecturer; R = relieving; SPE = Superviser. Primary Education (Islands).

AK = Auckland; SA = South Auckland; T = Taranaki; WA = Wanganui; HB = Hawke’s Bay; WN = Wellington; N = Nelson; C = Canterbury; O = Otago; S = Southland; M = Maori Schools; IS = Islands; D = Departmental teacher.

NOTE—Notification of errors and other inquiries to be addressed to the appropriate Education Board office or regional office of the Department in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
