Tariff and Development Board Notice No. 234—Tariff Inquiry—New Zealand - Australia Free Trade Agreement—Elimination of Margins—Footwear and Parts of Footwear (Ex Tariff Heading 64.03 and Tariff Item 64.05.00)

  1. Tariff and Development Board Notice No. 226 (New Zealand Gazette of Thursday, 3 June 1971) gave notice of the Board's intention to recommend, if no representations were received to the contrary, in respect of the goods listed in the Schedule to that notice, reduction of the rates of duty applicable to imports of Australian origin to the levels of the British Preferential Tariff.

  2. An objection to such action has been lodged in respect of the goods listed in the Schedule to this notice and the Board will, in accordance with its normal procedures, conduct a public hearing in the Boardroom, First Floor, Law Society Building, 26 Waring Taylor Street, Wellington, on Thursday, 11 November 1971, commencing at 10.30 a.m.

  3. The purpose of the hearing will be to hear evidence on the proposed action as it affects these goods. The Board will also consider evidence placed before it regarding any of the rates of duty applicable to these goods and import licensing as it affects them.

  4. Twelve copies of a typewritten statement of the evidence, to be presented under oath at the public hearing, should reach the Board's office no later than 29 October 1971. In preparing this evidence the "Notes for Guidance of Witnesses" prepared by the Board may be of assistance. Copies of these notes may be obtained from the Board's office.
