I, Victor Worth Thomas, Comptroller of Customs, give notice that I have applied to the Indecent Publications Tribunal for a decision as to whether the books Jackboot Girls, author, Leslie McManus, and Mistresses, author, John Philip Lundin, PH.D., published by New English Library from Barnard’s Inn, Holborn, London, E.C. 1, is indecent or not or for a decision as to their classification.

PURSUANT to clause 20 of the Schedule to the Otago Raspberry Marketing Regulations 1950, notice is hereby given that only two persons having been duly nominated in the Northern Ward for election to the office of producers’ representative on the Otago Raspberry Marketing Committee, I do declare

being the persons so nominated to be duly elected as producers’ representatives in respect of the Northern Ward.

The Standards Act 1965—Standard Specification Revoked

PURSUANT to section 23 of the Standards Act 1965, the Standards Council, on 25 June 1971, revoked the under-mentioned standard specification:

Tariff and Development Board Notice No. 228—Inquiry Into Acrylics in the Forms of Plates, Sheets, Strip, Film, and Foil, of Tariff Items Ex 39.02.64, Ex 39.02.65, Ex 39.02.66, Ex 39.02.67, Ex 39.02.72, and Ex 39.02.79

  1. Following receipt of a recommendation from the Emergency Protection Authority the Government decided that import licensing should be retained on cast acrylic sheet pending inquiry and report by the Tariff and Development Board on the question of duty and import licensing in respect of this product.

  2. The Board has now been requested by the Minister of Customs to conduct its inquiry on the basis of terms of reference extended to embrace all acrylics in the forms of plates, sheets, strip, film, and foil falling within the Tariff items set out in the Schedule to this notice.

  3. In accordance with its normal procedures the Board will conduct a public inquiry in the Boardroom, First Floor, Law Society Building, 26 Waring Taylor Street, Wellington, on Tuesday, 28 September 1971, commencing at 10.30 a.m.

  4. Any person who intends to tender evidence should lodge 12 copies of a typewritten statement of the evidence, both public and confidential, to be presented under oath at the public inquiry, at the Board’s office no later than Friday, 10 September 1971. In preparing this evidence the “Notes for Guidance of Witnesses” prepared by the Board may be of assistance. Copies of these notes may be obtained from the Board’s office.

  5. This inquiry replaces that which was notified in Tariff and Development Board Notice No. 206 (New Zealand Gazette of 25 February 1971) and of which advice of deferment was given in Notice No. 225 (New Zealand Gazette of 20 May 1971).
